OK back to the build!!

It's been quite some time now going back and forth between two builds going.

The used eta movement originally planned on using along with the hands (pictured on first page) will no longer be in the build!

why? Well, the hands aren't correct and they spin right around on the canon pins (my guess they are worn)... also I've switched up plans on the year of the build making it "not so vintage" being a early 90's model, where the lume is fairly "white"

starting with hands..... closest hands to the model I've dug up was eta based hands from veitnam that came to me with rubbish lume  I wasn't very pleaded with them at all..

here's a look at them

The lume is uneven and (greenish dirty) looking.. this is the only picture I had... the overall shape of them are good! (But still needed tweaking) I like the hour hand center lume plot (no one can ever get this right) being longer in length and wider also.

I had my first try in reluming hands! I've went with a recommendation from our good memebers here and it arrived soon after order

I was quite happy with the packaging and kit. I quickly got to work!

after a couple YouTube videos ofcourse lol

stripping the old lume was a complete nightmare untill i found out about a trick, just throw them into some acetone!

Here they are all stripped and ready to go! (Aftet a quick bath that is) Oh oh and I even went ahead and sharpened up the seconds hand as well as the hrs & minutes hand (they were flat on the tips).....

end results coming next!

Now many probably seen this tudor 79090 popping up here and there on wristy threads because I just couldn't wait to wear it before it was finally finished!! LOL

I've had quite the experience with WSO endlinks that was a total nightmare!! I've returned 2 sets!! They are absolutely junk as many memebers here can confirm.

finally I purchased raffles 580 endlinks and am quite happy with them after a bit of fine tuning/brushing oh and they require to bore out the spring bar brackets as they are 1.xx in size where I'm using 2mm shoulderless bars.

I also went back and forth looking for a gen dial but couldn't pin a nice dial for a decent price! So yeah you guessed it....went with yuki (for now) I'm actually not too disappointed with it the print is decent enough for me could use a relume (in plans) for a later time...

Have a look

you can see my relumed hands there ;)

alright already I've kept you in suspense long enough here's the "for now" finished sub.

I present to you The TUDOR SUBMARINER

Hope you've enjoyed this little sub build!

In future plans are:

- change out that hideous date wheel
- install h3/h4 pinions (raise the hands off the dial)
- better insert & pearl
- better dial (possibly gen)
- gen clasp

Amazing work! I really want a gen Tudor sub

Thanks!

I recommend getting one sooner then later as I believe these prices will be rising on the Tudor Sub's as well. Good luck cheers!

Thanks - yes I have been on chrono24 and they are definitely more than the last time I checked. What year do you think I should try and go for?

Chrono24 good place!

year? Well that would be entirely up to you my friend :)) If it were I, I'd purchase a 90's model to have a "fresher" case set, as the last 79090 was produced in 1995 before they went to sapphire crystal.

Love the build, just wondering where did you source the bracelet?

This bracelet is is off of my old cartel 1680 sub, now housing raffle end links. Wrong stamping but it works for now.

Alright folks I've decided its time....

having nothing much to do and wanting to mess with tinkering watches again I've decided to "update" the tudor sub case.

it started bothering me these thick lugs and what appears to me being lopsided as well...

I've decided to slim the lugs and work the crown gaurds a bit to give this watch a more "over polished" look to it's age,. As I've seen (especially the 76100) model Tudor subs carring the thinner lugs and it very much suits me.

let's give it a go!

First thing I did want to mention, this is a great deal and needs to be addresses.

Looking at my illustration above, the side profile of the lugs needs to have the slightest angle, this is very important, in my observation it helps to achieve that (3d look) of the lug structure while looking at it straight on. So we're going to do just that stay tuned.

couple more for observation purposes,

Let's have some fun and see what we can do:p
