Hi,

I have bought 12 watches ( for personal usage) as well present for my mother and fiancee chanel bag and bottega. Ill be doing transit in copenhagen before entering sweden ( am swedish citizen) the question is would the watches be questioned in shanghai security check or denmark or sweden? Would it be another scanning within transit? I been traveling internally in china on different planes none asked about watches. Let me know please. Thank you

Hello and WELCOME to RWI from the official reception desk team!

You are receiving this reply either because you posted in the "New members say hi" section or because I spotted one of your first posts elsewhere. In the latter case, please consider going to the aforementioned section and introduce yourself.

If you haven't already, please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members section (all subsections) as they contain information for newbies and most importantly our forum rules! In particular, please take note of our sales rules, because you will be NOT yet eligible / allowed to sell as you need to meet certain criteria / be certified first.

A good starting point is this list of resources on RWI:

Also, this please take a look at this sticky thread:

If you need further help, please feel free to contact me or @Feefo!

We're always happy to help, but please allow some time for PM responses as we have lifes outside of RWI!

Someone from Sweden would be of help here. @big_polarbear ?
Hide everything within other items, for example socks, clothes, etc., and put everything in undercarriage. Do not travel with anything that gives off that you have money (be it clothing, suitcases etc)

For the life of me I don’t get why people love to purchase rimowas, huge LV travel bags etc. while flying. It’s the stupidest move you can pull off, you’re literally branding yourself as a target for a control check.

Personally I like to still be stylish, but never overdo it. My luggage is a regular one, hand luggage is a 15 year old keepsake that I used to travel everywhere in the world

Be discret and you won’t have any problem. I always come back to stockholm with dozens of bottles (alcohol wayyyyh cheaper in asia) and a watch roll of my watches for personnal use, never ever had any problems whatsoever

It's exactly this and more - If you don't want to attract any attention, do just that and you should be fine. My trusty eastpak that has been a reliable carry on for many years doesn't get a second look, often with my watch roll tucked inside.

If you're gonna be a label whore, you'll attract attention (no judgement of course)

As @big_polarbear has written - this way is very safe and you will have no problems.

Did this also so many times when I had direct flight from Finland to China and vice versa.
Had lot of stuff in my luggage and hand luggage and no one cared about it.
So mostly your personal behavior make it if you will be controlled or not.

In more than 14years travelling round the world (mostly from EU to Asia and Middle America) I only had 3 times a customs control and from this 3 times = once a very special control :)
But this was, cause I had small "defect" hydraulic power unit with electical wiring and switch box in my luggage :D
My suitcase was already in sorting process and was returned "as waarning" .... So they were supposing the worst at customs :D :D :D

Yeah the only time I was pulled was when I was travelling from a trade fair with work from China and had "samples" of manufacturing items. We're talking lots of wires, electrical items, brass pieces that kind of things. Never looked twice when it comes to watches as long as you're being sensible.

Seen like the only thing that gets controlled is when they detect anything electronic that is weird, ie potential bombs, tech transfer tentatives, etc. Basically national security matters. No one cares about your watches as long as you don’t wear a full versace suit with bottega slippers and fendi sunglasses when you’re going thru the airport’s checkpoint charlie

Some time ago I travelled to Australia quite often and tried a couple of different strategies. My problem were cigarettes , you can take just 20 with you (and I was staying for periods of 3 to 5 weeks). I learned following things:
Go to customs and declared one package more than allowed. They appreciated the fact I confessed such a menial amount and let me through without further inspection and without having to pay duties (and with a carton in my luggage).
The cynical strategy: wait from a flight from China. Once chinese citizen go through customs, everybody else is waved through without even a look. Those poor guys had to open all their luggage.
So you either make yourself non-conspicuous or you are deceptive creating or exploiting a diversion.

The image of creating a diversion is hilarious - Tying your shoelaces with a sneaky look up every now and then

Everyone has a vice apprently. Just got in two times this year with a cumulated amount of around 30 bottles :ROFLMAO:

All this to say; fuck customs, taxes etc. We should be as free as fuck to do whatever we want without getting robbed by big state. Taxation is theft

12 watches, 2 luxury bags, flying into EU from China, no proof of purchase on any of these objects?

Yeah I mean IF you get stopped at customs you'll have a hard time explaining where you got all of these goods.

Do you know how much they want for a package in Oz? Ranging from 17 to 20+ dollars at the time. Crazy. Had me quit for a while...

Hahah love the cynical strategy :ROFLMAO:

Similar experiences as I am an Australian with Vietnamese background. Coming home off Vietnam Airlines flights, just need to hold my Aussie passport up and I get waved through customs whilst anyone with a Vietnamese passport gets held up as they try to smuggle literal grocery store amounts of prohibited and non-prohibited items (mainly food) through customs!

I would add, expect certain destinations will get checked while others won’t. If I am flying from Dubai, odds are I have less chance to be controlled than if I’m flying, say, from Bangkok

If you’re travelling within EU, you’re golden. Have a colleague that chose to travel by car from Germany to Sweden just to smuggle a year worth of bärs ( if you’re swede you know what I mean)

Insider joke:

So many dishonest, tax-evading people here. So dishonest, so so so dishonest.

If I think about it, it's actually totally inherently dishonest how you folks behave. Tsk Tsk Tsk... Smh

😆

PS: @Feefo, that explains why I successfully went through customs in FRA with 7 reps back in July... At the same time that my flight from BKK arrived, a Chinese 747 had landed. I only saw Chinese passengers being checked. In fact, I was blown away by the fact that there were already hand luggage checks right after going through passport control (in addition to the regular checks after baggage claim). Hadn't seen that in years... Now it makes sense. It was to "welcome" that 747. 🤣

Once I was stopped by chinese tourists just when I was entering a LV store.

They wanted to give me 10000€ in cash, for me to get in a buy them bags 😳 seems they have a quota.

I refused but my gosh, this was insane

Be dishonest!

Take it and leave the store through the backdoor. 😇
