Yep, he used to post a lot - similar pics like now, with hot chicks in skimpy clothes in the background, showing off his latest rep.

It would be interesting to talk to him and find out about his transformation away from reps to gens, maybe.

I follow you on IG, I don't think you should say they are reps. By saying they are reps, just alerts more people to the fact that there are good reps out there. Nobody wants that.

The people that know they are reps should enjoy the fact they got the eye to spot them and enjoy the variety of photos you have.

Only reason to call someone out is if they are being a douche, pretending they can afford expensive watches. Which you don't.

Keep posting the cool wrist shots.

I appreciate the follow and share your sentiment completely! I just enjoy taking photos of my watches. If people get enjoyment out of that, wonderful. It shouldn't matter gen vs rep as long as everyone is happy.

I don't see an issue, he's not selling them. I think if you view them as an art form or merely viewing them as photography I think is fine.

On the other hand of this argument, what about models with plastic surgery and boob jobs on Insta?

I don't have any problems with replica watches. I own both gens and reps. When my co-workers ask me if the watch I'm wearing on a particular day is real or not, I always tell them the truth. There is no need to hide or lie.

The problem with wearing reps and not being honest about it is that once people discover you are wearing a rep, they automatically assume all of your other watches are fake as well. You loose your reputation. So might as well be honest from the beginning.

Now, the issue with postin tons of fake reps on social media (non-private account) Is that people think you are a rich millionaire that can afford $80k+ of watches. I'm sure evilpenguin is a nice guy and obviously has serious skills in photography. But that is not the reason why people follow his IG account. To me that is a bit disingenuous.

I think you're assuming the only reason why I have an Instagram account is to "show off" my wealth through watches, right? What if I just enjoy taking watch photos as a hobby and want to share them with like minded people? I've actually had the amazing opportunity to talk with and learn from several professional watch photographers on Instagram and love using the platform to continually share and get feedback from them. I don't honestly expect everyone to understand why I do what I do, but I refuse to be guilt tripped by it.

You're thinking about what I do from a purely superficial context. My goal isn't to just take watch pictures to show off to random people I don't know/care about. I do this to learn and better appreciate the hobby of watch photography.

Who cares. Good on you evilpenguin. If you love it do it - who gives a f** about anyone else.

Its not uncommon for someone not to be a millionaire and have more than $100k worth of watches. Why is it not? If you earn a decent salary > $100k a year this is easily attainable over several years. Some ppl spend $150k on a car. Others spend $150k on watches depending on their hobby. I know someone who wears a $138k RM but isnt a millionaire by any means.

lol, most people have kids, mortgage, responsibilities etc.. They are not going to spend that much money on watches. Anyway, that's besides be point. Not here to argue.

Evilpenguin wants to use it as way to further watch photography. I think it misleads people to think they are real watches. That's fine. Different opinions. We all do what we think is right end of the day.

Oh my God! This is still a discussion?
Look, not trying to be overly blunt or insulting in anyway BUT if you wear replicas and are a member of a replica forum and you have a problem with someone else who owns replicas and is a member of the same replica forum posting pictures on THEIR OWN insta page of beautiful scenery & a watch (that may or may not be replica or genuine)
you my friends are the problem. Not the penguin...
Live and let live as no one is being harmed... It's a non issue really.
And while were at it,
I'm sure you started noticing they were replicas because you were studying the pictures very closely because their freaking awesome!
People start trouble and then everyone else loses something good. That's the way the world is these days it seems. It does not have to be that way.
Enjoy the pictures, and enjoy knowing that you figured out some were reps and don't be one of the D bags the cruises around the Internet calling out people for no reason other than to be an ass.
To be clear,
This is directed at no one,
just a general statement about how we could all do a better job getting along in this world and that this really really seems like a non-issue.

Oh, and one more thing.
If you walk around with a watch on your wrist that is a replica and do not tell every single person that comes in contact with you and your replica watch that it is in fact a replica, even without them asking,
it's hypocritical to say that penguin should post that his watches are reps.
You are assuming that everyone assumes they are real. That everyone is just looking at the watch, and that if they knew they were replicas that they would even care one way or the other.

Maybe I've just had a long day. Guess I'll go get a drink. LOL
