thinking about the 111 PAM with the black leather band that does not say Panerai on it. Anyone have any suggestions on a specific one to look at?

I was looking at a few dealers today, but also didn't see any prices. So if anyone has a ballpark price that would be great. Thanks. Also, any other suggestions of something a long those same lines would be great.. I also like the PAM 048.

Oh yeah....is that a 44mm watch? Cause i was looking at 048 from joshua since it was a 40mm.

i just picked up the 111 from Amdrew at Trusty time a Chinese manual wind and the watch is beautiful excellent choice .....is this your first Pam? The reason I ask is because i had originally looked at the 40mm as well as i thought that 44mm was to large..i went for the 090 a 44mm ..i now have 2 will probably get more and i don't think any will be a 40mm...Silix-prime has this watch at $110 i believe ...most dealers carry this piece you shouldn't have any trouble locating and pricing one

My 111H arrived today with asian 17j manual wind......simply amazing. It is hard to go past the 111H as your first Pam. It is a model that most Pam collectors will always add at some point.

I have a medium size wrist, which is actually quite small given my height, and the 44mm Pams are a great look for me.

I also have a 192, and both are just the right size and just what i expected from a bigger watch. I am sure you will find the same thing. Remember, it is a big watch, so you are going to get a different look and feel to your 40mm watches.

My next dilemma is whether I add a 127 at some point?!

BUY BUY BUY

I love my 111F (if you couldn't tell already by all my posts)

The size is great the craftmenship is nice.... my only advice to you is to get one wiht all the goodies....

Super-lume
"AR" coating
Manuel wind the whole nine yards

Also get ETA movement if you plan on wearing it alot. That info I recieved from alot of members here prior to getting my 111F. And also be pacient and do your homework it will pay off in the long run

Big is In

I thought 44mm would be to big, I have small wrist and had the same concerns. I got a 111 and love the size now most 40mm watches look to small. I've gone bigger to 47mm and I thought for me this is to big but it really depends on the watch.
Now I usually look for watches 42mm-44mm.

My PAM111h

Cost $110 from Silix Prime and came with a crappy beige strap. Absolutely love it.

Two questions...will I be able to tell the difference between one that has the super-lume and one that does not. Also....do you know what the correct model number is for the one that has the black strap that does not say panerai on it? Who did you get yours from?

Thanks for all the help guys...slowly learning more about PAMs

If you're buying a PAM, you will be replacing the strap. No matter which 111H you get, it is almost certain that the strap will be poor quality. You're better off getting the watch the cheapest you can and buying a strap afterwards with the money you save.

What you are looking for is the PAM 111h. As Pugwash said, don't worry about the strap that is on it because rep straps are garbage. You will want to buy another strap when you get it.

There are 3 different versions of this watch.

One has the chinese copy movement in it, no AR (anti-reflective) coating on the crystal. The crystal could be either saphire or mineral glass. As far as I know the movement is good and I have not heard of any serious problems with them. This model looks and feels just like the others with the exception of the things it is missing. The price is usually from $100 to $160

The second has a swiss movement and can either have AR coating or not. It is a dependable movement and the same thing as the third versions movement, but does not contain a swan neck regulator. This watch looks and feels just like the others, minus the swan neck. You can find these for $200 to $280

The third has a swiss movement with swan neck regulator. the swan neck does not really do anything, but the watch does look more accurate from the back. This version always has AR coating. This version looks and feels the most accurate, but the main difference in the look from the second version is the littel swan neck. You can find these for $250 to $380.

For straps, you can find cheap ones on ebay for around $30. However, I would wait for one of Elliots "Big Balls" offers and spend around $50 to $100 to get a strap that is just amazing. If you want something a little more exotic you can go with a Hktan and get a completely custom strap.

WARNING

Just a word of caution.....If you have an addictive personality in any way shape or form, DO NOT buy a Panerai or a strap. These first ones will not be your last. Even if you can make it through life with only one Panera, the straps will get you and you will suddenly find that it is very important to have the neon green sharkskin strap that someone is offering.

... and there's a 4th one just over the horizon. The Chinese Swan's Neck H movements are just around the corner, but I wouldn't bother waiting as they'll be pricey at first. :D

Pams and straps

I've owned 4 Pam reps (have three now) and have bought and sold probably 30 or 35 straps over the past year or so. I've narrowed down my straps to a black, tan, brown, and rubber. There are so many good strap makers. You'll make yourself nuts looking for straps.

Buy quality, not quantity. Wojeckski, Mario Paci, Strapmaster, HkTan, Bob Vertigo, Europelli, and Walter are all great straps. Greg Stevens is my next one. Maybe a custom Delaurian some day.

seems for some reason that they are always coming out with new versions,
and when they do, for some reason they cost more than the old ones..
must be a 'horizon' thing

Okay guys i have been doing my research. I like Trustys 111, and i like josh's 111. I was comparing the backs on the two and Josh's has panerai written all over the back around the movement.

I brought up a Gen online, and it did not have Panerai written all over it. Trusty's does not and I really like his, but it is $300. IS this a flaw of Josh's?

I like everything about his PN11103 Pam 111 Asian Unitas 6497, and the price is great...I just dunno about the back.

I realize this is the Asian mvmt and Josh has a swiss one for 268 that would compare to Trusty's.
