After comparing my ARF and VSF clasp, ARF engraving still looks better and sharper. I might swap the ARF clasp over. The VSF clasp is harder to open, not as smooth as ARF.

Both have their pros and cons, a nice mix of best of both would make for a great hybrid.

Im curious of what cons you have found on the vs cuz I haven't. Finishing is even better than vr and it even takes Gen balance bridge without mods. Smooth way better and mine after almost 4 months still at 2 + s/d and the biggest issue in this last couple of months I heard is some gears not properly oil but not a single horror story.

That and a few stoping, best for any rep movement to get serviced. Swapped most of mine to VR from SH, serviced or not I’m getting same results years later..

I assume only available in whole watch for the time being, maybe a TD can chime in.

The part where you put your nail to get under the coronet is also better on ARF, it’s too small on VSF. ARF is also 904l if anyone actually cares about that.

VSF clasp is fine but I think ARF is better.

So far I know there are 2 or 3 different types of clasps. If you have a look at TRF even there are frosted and polished claps. So not that really accurate to compare a clasp from x year to another from x year.

Both my VSF Subs bracelets are inconsistent: one has nice sharp SEL midlinks and great clasp but the glidelock could be tighter but still ok. The other has not so great defined SEL midlinks but it has a wonderful tight flip, clasp and glide. What I'm saying is, don't judge them all by your own one example, there are good and better ones.

You can source the movement, they go for around 190$ its a hustle to source one. you need to either have a nice relationship with your TD or a contact in the Mainland.

190 is a bit steep. Better to buy entire watch, part it out and sell off remaining case, crystal, bracelet and bezel separately in m2m. That way you end up paying probably 100$ for the movement and provide members here with the opportunity of getting some desireable parts for way cheaper prices than what td would charge for parts.

At least i would not consider this "profiteering".
Tds and most likely factories charge a premium for separate parts so that a 400ish vsf sub would probably cost around 900 if built from separately puchased parts.

Completely agree. On the VSF I feel like I have to dig deeper into my nails and pull hard to unlock it. In the ARF, it's nice and smooth, and effortless to unlock it. Also, the clasp engraving on the VSF seems blackish and blurry. The ARF engraving is shiny and crisp. I think the only issue I see in the ARF engraving is the "V" in GENEVA. The right line of the "V" is shorter than the left line.

I must have got a good clasp not better, needs to be off wrist to adjust it, unlike I’m able to do on wrist with zzf or arf. Going to give a oil bath.
