Pilworx, I placed my order. :) I also bought gold... Have you tried this technique on a tt ceramic bezel? I hate the yellow color on the rep. This might fix that eyesore. :)

i haven't handled enough of the gen TT models to competently comment on this but i have heard it said that the piss yellow color does somewhat match some gens but nevertheless it's still a flat yellow paint with none of the characteristics of metal.

pretty sure the gen gold coating still appears somewhat matte in appearance until the light catches the tiny particles and sparkles just like the platinum so don't go with a shiny, glossy gold.

My hats off to you....it is an amazing job.....I may consider a ceramic bezel insert watch after all, perhaps the new 114060

I'm waiting for my GMT to be delivered, after inspecting it I think I will try this mod. I'm a artist, so the painting should be easy for me. I'll post pics if I attempt it.

First off, Im in no way trying to discredit the info in this post. Its a very good tutorial and the tips and tricks are top notch.

However, this procedure will not work well with a Trevor DSSD bezel.
The engraving is simply not deep enough to protect the painted surface.
The engraved surface sits at almost the same height and the rest of the bezel, and really light contact from even a shirt sleeve is enough to rub the paint off.

Ive tried several different methods using thinned paint as suggested here, also unthinned paint, thinking maybe a little thicker application will last longer.
I even tried mixing the paint with 2 part epoxy, and also with GS cement (different applications). Even tried mixing the paint with clear lacquer.
The results are all the same. Looks good at first but wears off rather easily.(within a couple days)

I am currently in the process of trying to locate a better engraved bezel. Once i do i will do this again as i really like the look.

Thanks again Pilworx !

@Raddave,
bummer about the Trevor bezel, i know that is one guys like. perhaps removing all the original white paint to get a slightly deeper engraved starting surface might be the way to go. i'd thin the paint a little less then but not too much as the thinning is what allows you to get a nice even coat without clumping or blobbing. also the paint needs a few days to cure.

i've been wearing my GMT now for a solid month and the enamel paint is still looking pristine.

Actually the factory paint had come off the 5 and 15 min markers when i had used scotch tape to mask the bezel when i did the epoxy mod to the pearl and im having the same problem in those areas as with the rest of the bezel, i even tried roughing up the bottom of the markers with a fine machinsts polishing stone (it will scratch glass), to help the paint adhere, but same results.

I bought a new Trevor bezel (not realizing that my Puretime unit came with a Trevor bezel from the factory) and its exactly the same...very shallow engraving...you can barely feel the engraving with your fingers..

So right now Trevor is trying to locate me an old Trevor bezel off a DSSD which he sold back in 2010 which seems like it will lend its self perfectly to this mod.

I just hope he can find it.

wow this is a very nice mod indeed, what exactly is the name of this paint? its quite hard to navigate the testors site itself, any direct link to the same exact paint in OP?
thanks for sharing!
