Noob question: what is the reason that some models have markers at 3/6/9/12 that are square and others that are trapezoid?

Looks to me like the ceramic po with 8500 movement and clear case back has the square markers. I hadn't noticed that before

Back on the wrist after a trip to my local smith for regulation, service and waterproofing.

We're good to go swimming :)

Sent from a very nice tin can with a really good string.

The first edition of the Planet Ocean, the 2500 models with the closed caseback, have the trapezoid markers at 3/6/9/12, just as the numbers are more classical styled. The newer 8500 models with the open caseback has the more square shaped markers there, and simpler, straighter numbers. You'll notice on the gen 8500s that they're not quite 100% square but rather just slightly angled, however on the reps they seem to be square. Small difference though.

Conquerer is correct :)
And not a noob question at all Alafranjin! A very good one that I bet a lot of people here have not even thought about or noticed.
I know I didn't for a long time. I only saw the change in the number fonts. Lol!
Compare a current BP rep of mine (left) with the most current 2017 gen PO model (right) in each photo.
You can see they are very similar (and square-ish).

The one on the right in each photo comparison was at the Omega boutique in Nashville and had just come in still with plastic wrap and everything. So very correct. Lol!
The one on the left in each photo is my rep I got here on member 2 member sales. So close but still a rep :)
I won't do a comparison with gen for the older closed case back model because I have not personally had one on my wrist so I could not promise it to be accurate but you can clearly see the difference in the closed caseback model (left) and the two open caseback models (middle & right) in this photo comparison of my three reps here. You can also see slight differences in the two open caseback models markers as the center one is slightly more square than the right one.
Here you can also see the differences in the font of the numbers from older models (left) to new models (center & right) as well as the thickness of the silver bezel trim line.

For a small comparison bonus-
Here is a newest model (2007) gen ceramic (left) next to the current (2006) gen Pumpkin.
You can see there have been small changes to these two as well even though they similar models & similar model years.

This is why I tell people to never get too hung up on a "mistake" in a certain rep.
There have been so many different gen Omega PO models produced now that unless you work for Omega, most of us could never really be too sure if it's a true tell or just a model we are not as familiar with. Lol!
At any rate. I hope this info helps everyone out a bit.
To be clear, the older reps ARE (mostly) correct as well. I just don't personally have access an older gen to compare them to so I will not. [emoji106]
