Sorry to ask such a noob question but where’s the best place to get a big crown 6538 case from? The ones on Sillix look good but not sure if they still do them, you know what they are like for not updating the catalogs. All others seem to be too thick. Is that true or am I being too picky?
Silix still has them mate, for a budget build they are pretty good

Agree, with a bit of effort you’ll get a reasonable result with a Silix as the starting point.
+1 Silix can look pretty nice with some good work.
That looks lovely. One question, did you use one on the super cheap $85 21j cases? Or is this an eta base?

Silix isn't a bad place to start. The biggest problem for me was the lug chamfers. I tried cutting them with a dremel and the results were pitiful. But there are people here who can do them well.
If you find that you want greater accuracy the only way to go is the Vietnam cases, which are roughly 10x the price. For me it was worth it, but many are happy with the silix builds.
