Do you order these straight from HR? Or do you have to build it all yourself and source the movement by yourself?
I'd like to get a 1680 or Bond 6538
I think it would be fun to vintage-ize the hands and dial myself as a project

Like Bart said, you should try modding a silix, I got an hr 6538 but the case is too fat and other things like a sapphire crystal instead of a plexi, I had rolojack mod the case and bezel and shape a plexi to fit, the main reason is that I got an hr is so I could have a big crown that I could swim with for the summer and I just couldn't get a water tight seal on the plexi on the silix builds but the silix is the best for a good looking budget build

More of my rolojack modded hr, as you can guess I'm very pleased with it,
It was a hot day today and it survived a good dunking in the kids paddling pool today, going to test it swimming tomorrow

Either a dg2813 which is about £30 from cousins or a 2836 (eta or clone) which is between £65 and £150 -ish

Sincerely you should choose 2836. DG hands are bad. Clarks Tudor hands or JKHorologicals hands for ETA are very nice. That's why I use ETA or A28XX on my builds.

So I tested out a new (new to me anyway) technique for brassing the silix bezel this morning,
Heat it up to pretty much glowing and firmly brush it with one of these brass brushes

The brass melts and sticks to the bezel.
This is the result, not bad.
