Well, Joshua has it for $388 if anyone finds that a slightly more reasonable price.

Yes, but it looks like Angus is offering a box set with the price.

Just about prefect...

Markers look fine to me.......The only stuble difference I see, is the very outer bezel with the numbers on it...the "1, 2, 3, 4"..seems a bit to high (a very tiny bit...should be moved down little)...but other than that I think its perfect...and the orange (color), as someone mentioned earlier....but I cant really tell because it could be due to the camera, flash etc...<<but these are tidbits that would make it prefect..(the face anyway)....the back..the only other gripe is about the wood ...very werid looking..but I supposed we wont be staring at the back ....But all in all..looks like a almost perfect rep. The quality of these are getting insane.....I'm happy I found one nice watch that is 44mm and that IS NOT a PAM......:)
I guess this goes on my list.
If anyone else uncover other errors..sound off please..would love to hear what I'm missing.....

what's up with all those (over) price...

2 years ago, there was 2 price.. $150 for ETA and $250 for 7750.. was simple enough :p

2 years ago the price for the best quality replicas from River, Eddie, etc. was over $400 for Unitas Panerai's and well over $600 for 7750/7753 - the replicas you are referencing were less complex and accurate

I think what Pamlover meant was the pin on the sub dials look different from the gen. Although silver in color, the pin has a hole in the middle while the gen is covered and round.

As Angus isn't stating anything about lume-quality, it will probably be pretty low... :?
Nevertheless, stunning watch.

I wonder if our lume experts will be able to relume it properly - looks like a tough job.
But it would look soooooooo cool! 8)

someone mentioned you could find the non-cousteau version of this watch for a pretty reasonable price.

I looked and found you can get it (even in TI, with a metal band) for about 2.8k

so, compare this to the price of a Swiss rep

$788
$200 chrono service
$200 relume (if it is even possible)

$1188 for a watch that probably isn't waterproof, and doesn't have a warranty.

Save up some extra money and buy the genuine non-cousteau. I think that's what I'm going to do.

I can't believe these new reps are forcing me to buy genuines :)

You do mot need to service a watch with a swiss 7750 for the first 2 maybe even 3 years. Do not confuse the inferior out of the box dirty an unoiled Asian 7750 with excellent out of the box clean well oilled Swiss 7750/7753 used by Breitling, IWC, Panerai and many more high end watch brands...

When buying a gen dont forget, that once waranty is over, if you need servicing you will have to send your watch for 3 to 6 weeks to the manufacturer and will be paying at minimum ~400$ for a movement service alone, damaged crystal ~250$, case replacement ~2000$

ok so $1000 is still a ton of money for a rep like this, compared to the genuine although non-cousteau model.

Besides, with all the movement tom-foolery that goes on, do you trust you are getting a well oiled new 7750? I'm not sure I do.

Problem is, even if it's a real ETA, that doesn't mean your movement is ok. The watch is still assembled in the back of a van by Asian that aren't much trained for that. So yes, it could be oiled, but as of dirt, we will pass on that.

You can't compare that to perfectly trained Breitling, IWC, Panerai workers that work in a perfectly clean environment.

So yes, the movement will be better, but that doesn't mean it will be trouble free.. Far from it.

Edit: Even Ziggy said the Asian copy, once serviced, was as good as an ETA. Watches is ALL about quality of workmanship.

Where did you get this knowledge from? I have read numerous articles from various members including, Ziggy that claim that Swiss 7750's come clean and well oiled. I have never had a problem in the 2 1/2 years of rep collecting with a Swiss ETA malfunctioning due to dirty or being unoiled, not one ETA movement has given up on me, ever.

Where did you get the information that ETA 7750's are assembled in Chinese sweat shops? An assumption? Yes ETA has factories in China, but these factories deliver Swiss quality assembled movements. BTW: Assembled Swiss 7750's can be purchased for 315$, even in the States. Is it a coincidence that the price difference between the Swiss 7750 IWC CD and the Asian 7750 IWC CD is 350$?

They are 100% certainly installed into the watches in sweat shops and you can be sure that they're partially built in chinese back rooms as well as they have printed rotors.

You'll never know what grime worked its way into the movement and I've heard several stories of stuff like rusted rotor screws in swiss movements due to finger prints. Buying an expensive rep and not getting is serviced, or at least looked at by an expert, is possibly daft.
