Grab some polywatch, Try to polish out the cracks as much as you can. If you are patient it can do wonders. It is one of the reasons I like plexiglass.

While I didnt go Franken trip nailed the looked I asked for
I original wanted a late 80's gloss dial build but there are no quality remakes so we went with a early 80's matte dial build.

Here are the mods

Case height lowered from 5.30 mm to 4.95 mm

Rehaut slimmed

crown guards reshaped

lugs slimmed and re-profiled

chamfers re-cut

Tube recessed in to case, bezel ring slimmed and re-profiled.

Dial, pearl and hands lumed to match

Athaya 702 crown and tube fitted

Stock Cartel insert reworked to give satin finish

ETA 2879 fitted

Sternkreutz T19 crystal fitted

bracelet refinished, ultra sound cleaned

2 mm spring bars fitted.

T19 service crystal

Hand set

Viet' dial

Crown & tube

Athaya pearl

WSO end links(the Cartel end links no longer fit no that the case shape has been modified)

xj4sonx : when you say “case height lowered”, I’m trying to figure out which measurement that is. Sounds like it’s different than rehaut slimming since you mentioned that as well.

I want to slim the rehaut on one of my builds, but I’m trying to figure out how to do it without messing up the crystal/hand clearance or the angle of the stem from crown to movement. Maybe the case slimming is my solution, but that’s knew to me, so just wanted to learn what it is and how done. (I’m also searching on it now as well).
