No i don't think it will. Im fairly certain the endlinks are different. 18238 also has the older style band and rose gold inner clasp.

Thanks, I agree with you. I have searched to find the 118238 bracelet but without any success.
Do you know anyone or have you seen it in the online?

No I've never seen any for sale. It's probably going to be hard to find one.

If I were you I would just buy the BP wrapped day date 40. It's the best quality gold your going to get rite now.

Does anyone know if the case of the 18238 is much smaller as the 118238? Can you see the difference?

Havent been through each of the 40 pages but has someone but these on a scale? I would like to know how heavy it is. My gen DD40 is approx 198.5 grams with 4 links removed - thats a Rose Gold version.

Just want to see what the weight difference is

Bp Wrapped gold version is the heaviest dd out and is approx 132 grams, plated version few grams lighter.

I hate to be the "Who has the best sub" guy, but I just need to ask, I fell in love with this watch ( never thought I would, must be the age factor ) :) I've read most of the thread, but haven't found a sufficient answer.
I don't really like gold in any form or shape, so I'll have to go for an SS version. Is there any particular version that is closer to gen than another? I like the SS with the silver fluted dial and the grey dial and maybe even the blue one. Oh and it has to be that textured bezel.
Does this watch even exist in SS as gen? I believe not, eh? So the shine is not even remotely gen like?
Are these any good:

?

Thanks in advance for your time and replies!

Here is what I have learned, if you go to the Rolex site they show you the different versions made. I learned the ice blue dial only comes in platinum and platinum models have the smooth bezel. I wanted the fluted bezel so I had the choice of ordering that ice blue with a smooth bezel, however here is my thoughts on a platinum DD 40. The gen is priced at about $58,000 roughly, which unless you hang in those circles, screams rep. Even the fluted bezel 18 ct gold models fetch about $34,000 unless you buy on the gray market. Another consideration, a wise experienced modder here once told me, colors other than black, gray and white are much harder to replicate. So after talking to a couple guys that have this rep I decided on the Gray with vertical stripes dial, white gold color. I Will supply a link to it for you. I am having it modded before I even wear it. AR crystal and a serviced eta movement. These pictures make the crown on the dial look darker than it actually is, it's a very nice white gold color as gen.

@RetFed : thank you very much for taking the time for this amazing reply! I can't thank you enough for your effort, I really appreciate it. I usually stay away from any other dial than black, but I really like the silver one. I'm just not sure about the size, I'll have to go and try one at the R shop.

Thats always the best if your AD has that particular color on hand, but at least you can get a feel for the size. AD's usually have the yellow gold DD models on hand. I have talked to a couple and both say the gray or the silver dial are hard to beat. I went with the gray for more contrast against the white gold color bezel and case. If possible while you are there take a couple pics, I would be very interested, others here as well, thanks.

Well, I went to an AD boutique today. The salesman was very uptight and snobby, you gotta love guys like him. I think every AD has one just like him...Anyway, they only had one and yes, it was yellow gold :D I tried it on and as much as I love the finish and craftsmanship, it just felt too small for my wrist. The guy wouldn't let me take a wristshot or a pic of the watch alone, so sorry about that. I kinda like the DJ2 too..What is the general consent-is the DJ2 a better rep? Or are these two in the same league?
I think I'll order the grey one, just to see it in person. I can always flip it, I guess..

DD40 is an awesome size how big is your wrist? They got the dimensions spot on. When I was tossing up between my gen DD40 I was also contemplating the DD2 41mm. It feels substantially larger even though it says 1mm it looks more than that.

The DD2 is almost the same size as my Skydweller and that is a huge chunk of a watch.

Regards to the rep stick with the SS I say. Its very hard to distinguish between SS and White Gold/Platinum on the wrist. Of course if you let anyone hold it your gonesky straight away they will know.

I'm going to go with the Black stripped dial as soon as CNY finishes with the fluted bezel and maybe for the kicks I'll buy a rose gold one and do a side by side comparison with my rose gold gen so we all get a better understanding of the color differences.

If anyone has a RG one they are willing to send me for a few days I can do a in-depth review for the folks. I'm actually more concerned about the shine and finish. The gens are extremely blingy and they shine the shit out of your wrist.

Here is a pic of my gen DD40. I'm pretty sure the rep color is not the same from looking at numerous pics online.

Outside and inside pic.
