5 Vegas Classic torpedo last night. I was pretty excited, since I've been wanting to try a 5V for quite a while now. I get CI's catalog (as I imagine most of us do) and have been curous about the brand since I first read about it. I'll admit I was skeptical at a $4.50 stick going into it. Notes from my smoke log:
Initial impressions: very well-packed and weighty in hand. Interesting shape too, as the tip is very elongated pointed; much more so than any of the other torpedos in my humi. Slightly spicy aroma pre-light. Cut, toasted, puffing away. Hey, this is pretty good! Lots of earthy tobacco with some spice at the back of the palate there. Ash is really impressive- very white and almost a solid wall...no chance that sucker's gonna fall off anytime soon. Pepper through the nose and spice building towards the middle, but the smoke itself is mild-medium in body. Ash hangs on for almost a good 2". The wrapper is burning slightly unevenly, but a few short "maintenance" puffs takes care of that. Body builds quickly into the finish...this sucker is decidedly medium-full now. Getting some woodsy notes mixed with the earthyness. Spice dropping away, body building up quickly right at the nub.
All in all, pretty damn good smoke, especially for the price. Gave me a bit of a headache there at the end that I wasn't expecting, due to the rapid jump in body profile. I'll give it a solid 8/10, and definitely reccommend it. :maty:
