I'm a person who isn't very good at seeing 'faults' in top end reps. These tiny differences in SEL fitment, rehaut engraving, spacing on the dial text etc - I just cannot see the difference; I can hardly tell in macro photos unless there's a side by side comparison.

However the crystal and black hole effect I can easily see on the wrist/in a video when the crystal is poor/average. The RXF crystal is the first I've seen that's ever got close in my opinion (Profs are great too). I don't know understand how you can't see it? Personally I think the black hole is one of the most important things for getting the Gen look right on the wrist.

I had posted many gen watches in this thread and I tried to find the black hole effect but I couldn’t. If RXF can do it and many other makers can do too, it is not something difficult, you have the correct shape and ar on the cyclops and it is there.

Imagine if rolex were actually 1 step ahead of the game and actually feeding watches with flaws to the rep factories/TDs! Of course I'm kidding, but it would make an amazing plot twist

I just could not recreate the black hole effect on the genuine, I don’t know how to. I have not even checked the rep crystal yet, even it can show black hole effect but I can’t show it.

I will try again when I have all the watches.

Get into mildly light room with bright walls.
Stand close to the wall and rotate the watch to in the way it’s sapphire will reflect that light color of the wall.
Look at date - area under the loupe is much much darker- black hole.

I think we should pay more attention to those more observable issues. But I will still remind the maker to pay more attention to the crystals.

There is nothing that is more observable on the wrist than the black hole effect.

What could be more observable? Case shape or crownguards? you need to compare it to a gen to notice a difference. Hands? You need a loupe. Bracelet feeling? You need to have it in your hand.

The crystal is the only tell you can see from meters away.

By the way, yes please, thanks for reminding them about it, if no one tells them they aren't gonna give a crap.

Gen Crystal is around 320 euros = £292 GBP (In a proper currency!)
The ZF rep is 548 USD (the most expensive we've seen to date)

= £420 GBP

So the entire cost would be £420 + £292 = £712 (not even accounting for shipping... so easy add another £50 + modding costs) you're looking at £800

That's almost double the price of the rep... (800/420 = 1.9 times...)

I'm not bothered about the cost, if it's worth doing I'll do it. But to say its not that expensive, is just silly. It's almost double the price...

RXF have got the crystal nearly perfect, it isn't too much to expect some of these more established factories to be producing to a higher standard. They are making HUGE profit margins, the TDs and the factories. Their costs are not very high, namely down to exceptionally cheap labour.

Hopefully RXF crystal, shakes up the boat and forces the other factories to compete. Otherwise I can imagine many people will shift to RXF. It's much cheaper at just over $300 and doesn't have a large tell.

The crystal is as other people have commented, one of the biggest tells on wrist and from a distance. We should expect better by now.
