For what it is worth...a piece of heavy felt with some blue Dialux rubbed on it works very well for keeping scratches on plexi crystals to a minimum if wiped across the plexi a couple of times just once aweek.

is that a marathon dial-movement stack in a raffles case?

That is a sterile Marathon dial and handset in a drvintage midcase with a Rolex 16000 case back.

Build details HERE.
Soprod Newton P092 Top flight movement is 4 seconds slow over the past 11 days. I am not even going to bother booting it up 'til it gets at least two months of case time.
After which I shall brush some 'case magic' around the case back seal and pendant tube/case joint...and call it good.

Finally put together the watch I have been aiming at for the past five years, and I cannot express how pleased I am with the drvintage mid case.

The color of the hands changes in sunlight - it looks a little strange on the one hand, but I still like it somehow.
But for the next build, I will probably buy a completely white dial and do the aging according to the methods recommended here. Either bake in / with coffee or I'll use the Tamiya Weathering colors.

I will only shorten the winding stem once the crystal and bezel have arrived. I think it makes sense not to stress the keyless works by changing the winding stem too often. So it's better to do everything at once when all the parts are there.

When you go the Tamiya route be sure to not leave the paint on for a protracted period as it will eat the dial coating and make the dial look scungy. Light coat then rinse...repeat as needed.

The below dial and hands got a half dozen hits to get the colour I desired, now I will probably put it in a case for a mate to use for a belt mounted watch (as a gift...and I have a spare eta 2824-2 plus cases sitting about doing nothing), as he destroys anything not locked down.

Before I rack off and forget about this fora again for a bit there is one essential tool that I should recommend purchasing before you need it.

Tool link

It has truly saved my arse when case retention screws broke, works a treat.

Case retaining screws should be snug but not tight.

Definition of SNUG;

The underside of the flange of the screw-head "stalls' against the flat face of the Main Plate slightly - but still feels slippery. It feels like a soft-locking. Keep the pressure off - but keep the intention noble. You know (you feel) the difference between snug and too tight - when you turn your outside garden hose tap off - the water stops - but you keep turning the tap. Stop when the water stops.
Watchmaking is feeling,

Maybe it's better to keep all the screws "snug"... (what a wonderful word 😅)

This tool looks pretty cool - but I probably wouldn't have a clue how to use it. I think I'd better stick to the "snug rule". 🤣

Bloody Hell - I do come out with some old bollocks after a few beers that's for sure.
Mind you, I've stripped the heads off a few retention screws in my time. Especially at the cheaper end of Chinese stuff. It's like they make the screws out of kitchen foil.

Hey bros,
Are you able to work on more than one watch per day?
Once I finish one, I just cannot get motivated to continue

And if I force myself, it usually does not end well

I'm already quite happy if I can work on one watch a month ... I do try to spread the work over one or two days - but once I've done something for a few hours in a row, I notice that my concentration wanes and, above all, that I become impatient. Neither of these are good circumstances for being able to work cleanly and without errors ...
