Nice comparison man! I told you that you gonna change you mind! Even though gen has tighter SEL fittment your TC looks nicer overall. The only differences I could tell are the SELs they sit a nodge deeper in the case on the backside! Thx for the pics!
Thanks my friend!

Great write-up andrei01. Thanks a lot for this review! Like you said it's (also) because of polishing, but the TC looks better than the gen. How do the weight, crystal and overall 'feel' compare when you have them both in hands?

I was quoted 30-45 days and also located in EU, 30 days in and hope to get the v7 soon! :)

Great post/comparison, and looks like an even better watch. I'm a n00b, but have been consistently seeing and reading good things about the TC Subs.
What started as a hunt for a decent Datejust, is now turning into lust for TC or noob v7....

Fantastic write up...well done. I've looked at and handled many gen 16610s in the last 3 years and the things that used to give away a TC were in the more recent (late 2014 model) v6 were:

1. bezel feel and look
2. Bezel insert pearl (even in the v2 bezel)
3. non-capped pinion
4. No Dimple on the clasp Spring bar
5. Slightly blue tinted AR on crystal
6. Higher mid-link on the SEL
7. setting the time/date on the TC movement

some of these points are obscure details that only die hards In the gen world would be aware of.

Looks like the v7 improves on the following:
1 (to an extent), 3, 4, 5, and 6.

if the v7 extreme version addresses point 1, and a gen bezel insert is installed,
points 1 to 6 would have been addressed, leaving only point 7 outstanding.

that's an amazing improvement !

Point 7 is more complicated to address, with the main options either to install a serviced and modded (with gen parts) yuki 3135 or SA3135 movement. The first option is costly and the second option is potentially less reliable than TC's movement, is that correct?

are there any viable replacements to TC's movement in terms of "correctness" and reliability?

In my eyes besides everything you said I would put in a serviced Yuki 3135 and Gen hands. Gen bezel insert and gen crown an gen crystal too.

Is a serviced (and modded with gen parts) yuki as reliable as TC's movement?
The serviced yuki and gen hands would add almost the cost of another TC v7, yes? Looking at around $700+ all up?

but that would be the final step to completing a masterpiece (after replacing with gen bezel insert, crown and crystal).

Awesome comparison, man. This should definitely help with the whole "TC's feel so cheap and flimsy" gripe that so many people have.

Great comparison.
Having owned several TCs and gen 16610, i notice that the lug shoulder shape on the gen in different from TC.
The gen has slightly raised/straight shoulder then curve. While tc case lug shoulder is sloping down all the way.
I guess it is easier to show it in drawing than wordings.
Having said that, the TC watch is a magnificent watch that one should have in the collection.

The feel and weight is pretty much the same.
The cristal is spot on, no differences at all, same glare same cyclops same height.

Even though you can't tell from the clip the bracelet was a bit more rattley on TC and the bezel was a bit harder to rotate. To my ear the clicks were the same, not a noticeable diff there.

But again like others stated, an oil bath and a few bezel spins will make the watch perfect.

I wouldn't bother with changing the cristal or insert or in fact any of the components mentioned.

I didn't manage to see any differences.

Also a yuki was out of the question for me even from the beginning. I'm not trying to fool anyone so why bother.
Sbybbuser i've noticed the difference as well but wasn't sure if it's from the polish or not.
