Hi guys,
Been lurking around the Rollie corner for awhile now as I've gotten over my PAM addiction... for now... (at least I'd like to think so anyway
) It was only a matter of time before the Rollie finds its way to my collection and after much deliberation, I think nows the time.
First and foremost, hats off to Bonesey (He is the ALE of Rolex
) for his detailed work on all the info for Rollie reps. Great to have people like him who put in all the effort for noobs like me to read about. I've been going through it at least a dozen times over the past couple of weeks now. I'm looking for something that can be worn as a daily beater (with my suit to work so it has to be low-keyed ish) and also something that can be worn as a dressier watch. So its down to 2 choices (or 3) - Sub-C LN or LV and GMT-II C and here are my concerns so far:
LN & LV:
LN - A classic. Can't ever go wrong with it. Can I?
LV - I've read many comments that the green is impossible to rep and it is off compared to the gen - Is this true? I've also read that the green on the gen never looks the same due to lighting and angle so to be fair, its impossible to really compare both with the same lighting but I am nit-picky as hell and I know that this will probably drive me crazy. What are your thoughts on the Hulk and would it be better for me to go for the LN instead to be safe? And also, I want to be able to wear it pretty much daily to work and would that green would be too attention seeking?
GMT-II C:
The main thing about the GMT-II that would bother me would be the incorrect hand stacking. Would that be a biggest tell for someone who knows their Rolex?
As the gen has a jumping hour hand and the rep is backwards with a jumping GMT hand, this makes it is similar to the GMT function on the A7750. As I currently own a PAM 531 fitted with the A7750, I could attest that it is anything but reliable and I'll be staying away from any A7750 if I can. So my question is, how is the movement on the ETA compared to the A7750? I'm guessing it would be more reliable that then A7750 but is there any issues that I should be aware of?
Also, would the bezel of the GMT-II C be something too casual to be a dressier watch as compared to the Sub-C?
I've decided that if I were to go for the Sub-C, I'm going to skip pass the entry level and go straight with the top-of-the-line BK as I've seen some of his work and its nothing short of top notch. Not sure whether he does the GMT-II C tho? I'm currently leaning towards to Sub-C but is undecided as to go for the LN or Hulk. I'd really appreciate it if you Rollie experts could help me out with some opinions.
Cheers guys
