Suggestions please? Rollie noob here. Sub-C LN or LV or GMT-II C?

Hi guys,

Been lurking around the Rollie corner for awhile now as I've gotten over my PAM addiction... for now... (at least I'd like to think so anyway :D) It was only a matter of time before the Rollie finds its way to my collection and after much deliberation, I think nows the time.

First and foremost, hats off to Bonesey (He is the ALE of Rolex :D) for his detailed work on all the info for Rollie reps. Great to have people like him who put in all the effort for noobs like me to read about. I've been going through it at least a dozen times over the past couple of weeks now. I'm looking for something that can be worn as a daily beater (with my suit to work so it has to be low-keyed ish) and also something that can be worn as a dressier watch. So its down to 2 choices (or 3) - Sub-C LN or LV and GMT-II C and here are my concerns so far:

LN & LV:

LN - A classic. Can't ever go wrong with it. Can I?

LV - I've read many comments that the green is impossible to rep and it is off compared to the gen - Is this true? I've also read that the green on the gen never looks the same due to lighting and angle so to be fair, its impossible to really compare both with the same lighting but I am nit-picky as hell and I know that this will probably drive me crazy. What are your thoughts on the Hulk and would it be better for me to go for the LN instead to be safe? And also, I want to be able to wear it pretty much daily to work and would that green would be too attention seeking?

GMT-II C:

The main thing about the GMT-II that would bother me would be the incorrect hand stacking. Would that be a biggest tell for someone who knows their Rolex?

As the gen has a jumping hour hand and the rep is backwards with a jumping GMT hand, this makes it is similar to the GMT function on the A7750. As I currently own a PAM 531 fitted with the A7750, I could attest that it is anything but reliable and I'll be staying away from any A7750 if I can. So my question is, how is the movement on the ETA compared to the A7750? I'm guessing it would be more reliable that then A7750 but is there any issues that I should be aware of?

Also, would the bezel of the GMT-II C be something too casual to be a dressier watch as compared to the Sub-C?

I've decided that if I were to go for the Sub-C, I'm going to skip pass the entry level and go straight with the top-of-the-line BK as I've seen some of his work and its nothing short of top notch. Not sure whether he does the GMT-II C tho? I'm currently leaning towards to Sub-C but is undecided as to go for the LN or Hulk. I'd really appreciate it if you Rollie experts could help me out with some opinions.

Cheers guys :)

Biggest difference I guess are the polished midlinks... GMT is very bling compared to a SUB, I would go 116610LN for your first one, you can't go wrong with the new Noob V5

I think the LV would be a great choice. You are correct that the bezel never matches up but there is one exception. TC has a bezel that is damn near %99.9 perfect. It's a classy look, to me the ceramic is a little too shiny. Best of luck in your search.

I would buy a Noob 114060 V5 (the Nodate Version, when it´s released).
You don´t need to worry about the datewheel position and the AR on the cyclops because there is no date :D

I would (and I will) go with the 116610LN. For me the GMT Master is too shiny. I like understatement :p

I have the GMT. It isn't too casual at all. In Fact it looks very professional and can be worn with a suit no prob.

My noob gmt is pretty awesome in all respects and quite bling as mentioned above.

Unfortunately the only thing that gives it away is that hand stack but only rollie experts or watch people could call you out on that.

Sounds like you need that 116610LN. Very classic.

Noob question. What does TC mean? Seen it a lot but couldn't find the meaning of it.

I own a 116710LN by noob. Classy watch. Could wear it with a suite or on a Friday night. Can't go wrong with it either way. Only issue as u said is the hand stack, while is should be hour below and gmt hand above it. I've read about correcting the hand stack but some said it will break down after a while (don't remember the cause of the break down). As for my self, I'm planning to get the 116610LV hulk v5 by noob. Seen some photos of it by some members here, very elegant and sexy. Then hopefully mod it with a gen insert and a gen crystal. I'm wanting the hulk since I own a black GMT. Finally can't wait for CNY to be over and things cool down to order it. Good luck!

Probably it's the best choice.

Which is why I've decided to go with BK's LN. Heard (and seen) his work is top notch.
And plus, A watch with no date just seems a little odd for me.

Looks like the GMT-II really isn't getting any love around here compared to its cousin.

If only that hand stack could be fixed.. Oh well, looks like i'll be contacting Bk very soon :)

Another pointer to take note would be the bezel font colour for your gmt. Either you platinum paint mod it or get a gen bezel. or wait for an equivalent
to the v5 noob sub for the gmt master.

Cheers

The LN is a great choice, it's the most versatile and the GMT Master is great but are you jumping to different time zones frequently?
Daywatch, I like your style, the Caddell Sub is awesome :cool-new:

I have all three. I went TC on the subs and BK for the sub C GMT Ii. You will find these modders address most of your issues above. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Im pretty much set on the Sub LN but after doing some more reading, it seems like the v5 is pretty spot on.

So my question now is whether it's worth paying the extra premium to BK or just get my usual TD to get the v5 noob LN?

Also, are the Swiss movements really worth it since I've read that there's no such thing as a real Swiss ETA, just a refurb
