They're all fake - 3
All fake but one - 2
No one got it right. I have two folders that I keep research pictures in. One is Replica Research. The oher is Gen Research. All of these pictures came from the second file. Yes they are all gens. All the pictures were from random places that I have collected over the years. 20 was the only one I didn't have a pic of on a different background. I said I wasn't going to give any hints. But actually the title itself did contain one.
Spot The Fake?
And I never said one of them WAS fake. I said this:
All I need for you to so is tell me which one
you think is the fake.
Now I have to say that Maxlove's comment was pretty cool.
NO. 19
Reason: The crown guard is way off and the engraving on the back of the case is wrong. The buckle looks a bit suspicious as well as the Lume not being very good.
His comment was a hilarious way of saying that he didn't have a clue and there was no way to tell. Although not the correct answer it was certainly the most honest. I should send him something anyway.
The whole purpose of this experiment was to determine whether a 'good; rep can be spotted under
normal conditons. Well it can't. We focus so much on the flaws and so little on the positives that we get absorbed by it. People are actually walking into ADs and accusing them of having fakes in their cases.
I think another problem is that we are so used to seeing our watches displayed in a macro shot that we forget what they really look like in the real world. The pictures shown here were scaled that way and it made many of you crazy. So much so that you were actually manufacturing flaws in your minds. I love to see the big pics too. But the real world is where we wear the watches. And in the real world the average watch is seen on a person's wrist, half under a sleeve, often moving and at hip level. Possibly for a moment when the wearer is glancing at the time. So take that into consideration when buying one.
The point here is that even with all their flaws, our reps a prety damn good. So whether you are experienced or a Noob, if you want to mod things feel free to. But don't do it because you think you have to. Do it because you want to. In the end the only person that is going to care about your half lume dot is you. The majority of people do not care nor know what kind of watch you are wearing much less whether it is right. The others know that reps exist. And people being the way they are (self centered and jealous) they'tr going to pick you aprat no matter what you have on. Between the clueless ones and them there is one important thing to consider. The best way to put it would be this:
People are more apt to think you're gen is fake long before they will think you're Rep is real.
As I've said a million times. Get what
you want. Get what makes
you happy. And remember...it's just a freaking watch. Don't take things so seriously.
