How can you tell #20 is a Mini-Fiddy? I can't see any of them well enough to tell what's what.

Radiomir "12" (seen on all Radiomirs and the Fiddy) in a Luminor case.... check the edge of the case, crown, and crown guard.... #20 is definitely a mini Fiddy.....

Let's see the actual pic of that one fakemaster....

As LOS pointed out, #20 seems to have a distinctly Radiomir-esque shape to the "2", which is at odds with the Luminor case it is housed in. Either it's a bogus "artifact" from shrinking the pictures down or.......?

What about people wearing short sleeves and sitting still on a bus/train? Again, I acknowledge the point you're trying to make, Fakes, but you're focusing on the situations that fit your agenda.

While I enjoy the "Where's Waldo" game we're playing here, a much simpler argument would be this (and we've all said it 100 times): 99% of the people out there could care less what you're wearing on your wrist. Of that 1%, 99% of THOSE people have probably never heard of Panerai.

Just because the Reperisti from this board can spot most fake PAMs from 5 feet away (assuming it's in clear view and stationary) shouldn't discourage anyone from buying a rep.

Hell, a good rep would fool 75% of the people on Paneristi.com (does asad's modified PAM000 strike a chord here?), and they are all WELL aware of the Panerai brand.

So, you've made your point, and we all agree.

Can we see a full size photo of #20 now? You've piqued my interest....

I don't even remember which one that is to be honest. And I know most don't care about PAMs. I only picked that because the PAM guys are the worst. You know I've never been to Paneristi.com. Are they really that bad?

If you don't even remember which one it is... and you don't care about PAM's.... then how do you know it isn't fake?

You set up a contest but didn't even vet the pics.... you do have a fake PAM in the group.... it's #20....

"Really that bad" in what regard?

You mean you don't still have all the original sized photos? Are they all gen or all rep then? If not, how would you know which one was which?

Wow. Does anyone actually read threads or do they just skip to the end? I said where the pics came from. I havee 1000s of photos and I grabbed some and put it together in like two minutes right after the exchange with T. So it wasn't like I was thinking about it much because it was supposed to be fun. And I was not asking antone to identify a specific model so there was no reason to worry about what I was picking. Apparently I even duplicated a few.

With that said I do have a major question.

If you don't even remember which one it is... and you don't care about PAM's.... then how do you know it isn't fake?

Are you saying that the gen retailer sites are slipping fakes in on us? I know some guys go into the ADs and accuse them of it but this would be over the top.

@Hooligan

Really bad as in do they know every mark on every model with every serial number throughout the history of Panerai. And do they put down others because they don't have as nice a model as they do. You know the snob types.

I'm saying you're slipping a fake in... I've gone over my source material, paneristi, panerai.com, and even the panerai history book and if that's a gen you have a pic of, it's a one of a kind.... because it doesn't exist anywhere...

So, either you have a pic of a Panerai that is not listed by Panerai or Paneristi as a model released by them, or it's a fake.... which do you think is the more likely?

A small percentage know A TON about the models and the minutiae of all things Panerai. The VAST MAJORITY don't know much about the brand and the nuances of the different models.

No, most are not snobbish. In fact, a group of them even got together and all chipped-in to buy a PAM000 for a guy who contributed a lot to the forum and was obviously a huge fan of the brand, but couldn't afford to buy one. Most of them are really decent in general, but the vast majority (again) are militant when it comes to reps or even homages.

Part of the fun of Panerai is knowing all of the nuances in the brand... there are people who can look at the dial of a gen Fiddy and tell you which run of the 3 it was in..... and therefore, they can get pretty close to the serial number of the Fiddy itself....

It's not about the watch....

It's that this has been driving me nuts finding a gen that matches those specifications.... and there isn't.... i've literally spent 6 hours researching it...

I can attest to that. He's sent me no less than 4 PMs about that watch. Sure looks like a Radiomir shaped 2 to me....

I think only Hooligan, Babola, Jaykeem, and a few others can truly appreciate the sickness that is Panerai...

That list would be much longer if folks like ssssurfer, rolli, fishgodeep, PAMman, and other would ever find their way over here from RWG2.

I am not sick at all. A 187 that cost me over a grand to create. That's normal, right?

Perfectly normal, IMO. Of course, perhaps I'm not the best one to ask.
