I understand that JAFO. But Real dealers selling $24,000 Smufs are collecting PayPal payments from strangers on Forums. I just did so. (No not a Smurf) lol Yeah they sometimes want the buyer to pay the fees but buyers rarely do the seller discounts the watches enough to cover shipping and PP fees. I want protection especially when buying a watch for over $300 (which I have not done with a REP) from a nefarious source who gets it from another nefarious source.
I bought a watch from WBK. I was extremely impressed at first glance for $160 when it came and said so. The the pearl fell out within hours LOL, and I looked closer at the bezel and realized it was deeply flawed not only the size of the pearl but the bezel markers. Everything else looked good. I WON'T Wear that watch. I ordered a pearl and will give it away, I decided since of ALL watches, I won't wear a fake Rolex. When someone asks I will want to claim with confidence it's real and I will be telling the truth. Only because they are the most faked watches made.
IF the bezel was right I COULD have sold my older gen which I ended trading it anyway but to buy the new style clasp and solid links on the new no Date SUB Gen on Thursday and getting it Monday. I will post pics of it next to WBKs in that thread.
I have decided that especially When it comes to Rolex I just don't want THAT watch to be a fake. I don't mind telling people the Hulblot is a rep of a $5000 watch IF they ask. No one I know will ask. But I don't want to have to say my Rolex is fake. Because so many are. And why should it be. I can afford the real thing.
And why do people wear fakes? They want others to see the NAME no? EVERY watch is imitated by a number of well known copy brands like Seiko,Citizen, Invicta Otherwise they can buy a real nice Homage, or even an Invicta the king of reps. If it is only about the Design. but no.... the name "ROLEX" has to be on it. People want to be seen rocking a Rolex. Not a great Steinhart watch made to LOOK like a ROLEX. Has to say Rolex and the crown and rehut all has to be there. People have to believe they have a Rolex. I realized I just cannot do that.
Most people can get away with it because $5000 watches are not that uncommon. I want a real Brietling chronograph. After reading these REP forums, I have no confidence in the 7750 Movement from Asia. I don't want to have to worry about a $400 replica failing. I would rather buy the $5000 one from Costco and have a lifetime service guarantee. So instead of paying thousands for fake watches I will pay that for two or three GREAT gens and a couple of Hulblots becasue I like the style but would NOT pay $5000 for one.
I was trying to be helpful and people go all uber sensitive and defensive as if I called them out personally If you are going to take a fake watch hobby THAT seriously I don't want to be a part of it. Its fake and should be taken as such,
