Found this thread the other day doing 088 research before I got one M2M.

Isnt the brushed CG a confirmed dead giveaway of the rep?

Found this one with a brushed CG at Crown and Caliber lol…you can zoom in and clearly see its brushed and it has sharper edges. I dont have the eye for the other tells to determine if its rep, but wondering what you guys think:

Hello!

Yes, that's right, VSF's PAM088 has a satin CG versus a polished one on GEN (Like most of the automatic models of this type in this case), I mentioned this in the description in this post. For me personally, this is unacceptable as a movement applied, as well as many other shortcomings, however, you can see a lot of examples on the forum when the CG was polished on its own, including softening the edges and optimizing the shape. It's a work in progress for those who think it's worth it, and many modders, I believe, would take on the job if it's just this shortcoming for you personally.

As a rep out of the box, this is certainly not good at all.

Agreed…i recently got a VS 088 because Ive always wanted one, but its a dogshit rep lol…

First course of business was fixing the CG (see the link below). The subdial missing the circles is annoying, but I can accept it (for now)….from more than 1ft away its not noticeable and lets be real…99% of people you meet in everyday life dont even know what Panerai is lol nevermind knowing the subdial should have texture. The GMT also annoying given I have 15yr old reps with correctly functioning GMT movements, why in the FUCK would VS choose to do an inaccurate rep of the movement? Just silly. Given I wear each watch 1x a week max, not a big deal to me for now.

Tbh, I just love the look (w the correctly polished CG w softened edges as I did), its an incredible watch…

That’s an amazing comparison. There is nothing like that for 960?
