There was a guy over on RWG.bz that had a solid gold DD I made about 3 years ago. It actually came out awesome. I'm sure you can find it through the search function. I believe the maker was in Hong Kong but he actually machined the case and built the watch with a gen dial and ETA movement.

The difference is a 5k or under rep or 25k gen. I'll take a 5k solid gold DDii rep and I disagree that the people who would buy a solid gold rep would just buy gen. $20k is a BIG chunk of change.

Agreed I looked into it. I was so in love with my DDii rep but couldn't deal with the weight. A case is extremely hard to source but if the rep factories did a case out of solid gold it would sell. I tried going DDi but it was too small. The DD is an easy enough rep to get right as the ones currently being offered are amazing I just want a solid gold one....

Guys, I just told you, one is available as a complete rep or ask J&W to make you a case set.
There are 1000s of SG DD reps sold every year guys, just not on here.

I think at that point wouldn't it be better just to buy your own small brick of solid gold and have someone mill it out for you? I dunno if I would trust Chinese companies to actually sell you a pure gold case. Even if they did it would probably have a crapload of impurities. I say get your own brick, mill out the case, and melt off the excess to use to make a bracelet.

Thanks boss. I'll see if PT can source one and at what cost. My biggest concern at that point would be customs I don't think the TDs would guarantee delivery on a watch that expensive.
