A long time ago, I worked with an older co-worker. He who wore a wig. He owned it, but he was also open about it. And honestly, it made dealing with him so much easier, or normal. Have you ever dealt with someone wearing a wig who was also trying to pull it off as if it was his own hair? It's socially awkward AF ....
Working with this co-worker, who owned the fact he was wearing a hair piece (it honestly didn't look bad), said something along the lines of, "If you try and pull it off like it's your own hair, everyone will act weird around you. Because eventually someone will notice something. And you'll always wonder whenever you hear snickering that if people are laughing about you. So I just own it. And the thing is, nobody cares."
He was right. I didn't really care and either did anyone else I worked with. We were actually happy for him.
Any who. I'm new. I posted in new members. I'm reading, learning, etc. My question: Is buying something like a great* rep like wearing a wig? Like, if you took it off your rep Datejust and gave it to someone who owns a gen Datejust, would they actually know? I'm not talking about some YouTube expert, just a casual owner of said Rolex. Like, I own a gen PAM 359 and some of the PAM reps I've seen .... no way I'd be able to tell. I'm not a PAM expert, but I own one and did a lot of research before buying mine. And the only way I think I'd be able to tell one was fake from the reps I've seen online is the weight of the watch. If the weight was heavy, like a real PAM, I wouldn't be able to tell.
So, is great* rep like someone who wears a wig and owns it? Or is buying a great* rep so good, that the majority of people cannot tell. Thanks!
*My definition of "great" is anything marked green in this "Who Makes the Best Guide." It is a Google Doc shared either here or on the Reddit sub that is unaffiliated with this site. Thanks!
