Thought I'd put together a short "Quickie Review" of this long anticipated rep.

Seems the biggest flaw on this one is the "half dot" next to the date window. My guess is that the date window is slightly too wide. If you notice, this dot is smaller than the rest on the gen. Hopefully Josh is correct and this will be corrected on the non-prototype models.

The pearl on this one is wrong again. The metal edge of the pearl should be wider and the glass & lume should be a tad smaller. Not since the old factory Avengers have we had a perfect Breitling pearl. Also, notice the circular lume dot in the 12:00 marker. This should be a flat triangular bit of lume.

The pushers on this one are ever so slightly too long. No biggie, and I doubt that you will be able to tell the difference without having a gen to compare. You can really notice the difference in size of the date window in this comparison.

In my opinion the rider tab overhangs the crystal slightly too much. Again, a minor flaw, but its there nonetheless.

Over all I think this one will be a winner, especially if the lume dot gets fixed. Josh and Andrew have produced a nice watch here, and the price is a lot less than I had thought it would be. The biggest disappointment is the delay in the Pro II bracelet, but hopefully some of the other flaws will be sorted out by the time its ready.

BTW, for those with small wrists that are contemplating ordering this watch. I have the gen diver strap and it is too large for my 6.75" wrist by at least on full hole. I don't feel like punching a new hole in a gen strap, but it really is aggravating.

@andreww,

thank you for posting that mini review, you know how much i like breitling's and i really like this watch. it almost looks like it needs the rider tabs from my evolution on it as they don't seem to overhang the crystal. i would say you are 100% correct about the size of the date window. hopefully they will correct these small problems, i will wait and see what the future brings for this one.

i hope the bracelet is longer than the usual breitling bracelet because they are too short for me as a rule. my evo is on the last adjustment and i wish i had 1 more link for it. my navitimer i had no choice but to add a link to it just so i could wear it. i have that problem with the breitlings and rolex dd and dj, the rest seem fine.

thanks again for posting it, heres to hoping they fix it.

From the latest quotes from Josh it seems the pics posted are what is being delivered ;(

@hk45ca unfortunately the bracelet from the SFSO will likely not fit. The lugs are quite a different shape, and the end links are different. Hopefully when they come out with the bracelet they will fix some of the little flaws, or perhaps the black steel model will be better. Still, besides the one lume dot (wonder if ziggy could fix that whem reluming) its really a pretty decent little watch.

HK,the minor and very 'up close' issues with the Skyland are not as bad as the BCE with the terrible font you were happy to buy....that is far worse and more obvious then the Skyland issue, you don't agree?....

For a rep,the pearl is not that bad to me,have a look at the rep SA pearl and you will think the Skylands is great....

Pointing that out is obvious,Breit. reps will never have 'gen' pearls anyway....

mine is the first version of the evo, i wanted a graphite dial and checked on it about 5 weeks ago and the date font is very bad. it is nothing like mine or a gen so i didn't buy it, i wasn't happy with it. if my currant evo date font starts bothering me i can change the date wheel, i can't do anything about a date window being too big and cutting the lume marker in half. i can deal with things that are fixable much better than being stuck with a problem that can't be fixed. i will pass on this version.

on the up side i was told the evo is available with a much better date wheel once again so i might be back in the market for that.

It does have the datewheel that was built for the Skyland now, much better.... 8)

I wouldn't want to go thru the hassle of getting a datewheel and having it changed, pain in the ass,so i can live with the issues on the Skyland that are not as noticable as the datefont on the old BCE's....but to each his own...

Nothing compared to the GMT2c... that was hilarious. Talk about over-hyped!

I don't think its likely that we will see a graphite version. In looking through the Breitling catalogue last night I noticed that the graphite dial is slightly different than the black and blue versions. There doesn't seem to be any chrome ring surrounding the subdials on the graphite dial. That would probably mean a different production process, which would likely be too costly to merit an extra colored dial. I think we will be limited to blue and black on this one.
