42mm AP diver wears much bigger then 44 Panerai because of how the strap curves. That said I have been wearing my AP non stop for past 40 days on 6" wrist and just cannot take it of. It's on a Genuine XS strap.

Note in a picture above how the strap curves around. This is all good with a Carbon Diver cause it is very light and comfortable. The SS model was way too heavy and uncomfortable, I had to sell it.

It all depends how you look at it. If you look at pics or your wrist it may seem too big, if you look at it in a mirror it looks ok, this is how everyone else sees it.
I had a watch collector try it, his wrist is bigger then mine at least. 6.7". When he put it on his wrist, he thought it was too big, but he thought it looks good on me. It is an interesting perspective on how you decide if a watch is too big or not.

40mm is pretty much a perfect size for skinny wrists. Not too big and not to small.
