I got mine from Trusty Time, not a trusted dealer here, but trusted on RWG which I also frequent. I got the cheaper version and his price was by far the best, absolute bargain at $158 for Asian movement:

Swiss is $258
Getting any watch gen or rep at this price with this build? goodluck

Has the cheaper asian a smooth seconds hand movement now? I remember some models had bad movements with stopping and jumping seconds hands.
If good, I need to order one for a holiday watch!
AR in these is indeed so so good!

On the other hand I am still in doubt wether to take the U2 or the U1000 chrono. The dial on the chrono looks awesome! But this latest version of the U2 rocks big time too. The only thing that strikes me is the minute markers on the bezel. Especially thise between the 5, 10 and 15. On the older versions those look way crispier tham this latest batch..?

Hi guys, I got the asian movement and its running pretty good, it never sticks or stops, constantly runs without interruption smoothly and keeps good time. My last U2 was also asian and also ran great. So from my experiences they ran flawlessly.

Can you guys tell me how can I know if a TD will actually sell me the updated version? I've checked other Sinns with rubber straps on Trusty's site and they were all added to their website sometime in 2009 and they're not saying that the watch got any updates, only the ones with bracelets were added last year. I've never had a 21j watch before, are they much worse than the ones with better movements? Are they reliable? TD's sites say that the more expensive version has a Swiss movement, but we all know that's not true, that's why I'm not sure what to do..Does the cheaper version actually have the same build quality as the "Swiss"?

build quality is exactly the same, only movement is different. They have the old pics up, but when you order, all the latest stock is all V3, I had the same concern and asked the TD.
In any case, you can post your QC pics and we can confirm. Personally never had a problem with 21j's myself, they are great value. This is my second 21j Sinn, both run fine.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it! Really love this model, I'm considering selling some reps and try to score a nice pre-owned gen, they come up from time to time over at WUS.

And it arrived yesterday, Great service from Toro!! So far it's running about 4 minutes fast but I'll see in the next couple of weeks. I really like the bracelet it's very substantial and seems to be well built, it is a little rattly not sure what a gen is like,The bezel lines up perfectly and I'm happy to see the hands and markers don't have the greenish hue that my U1 had. Lume is alright I had it on my bedside table last night and could still read the time 2.5 hours after I went to bed. I can see it will probably be a scratch magnet I somehow got a scratch on the clasp already...Oh wel it is a tool watch!! I opened it up to confirm the movement and lubed the seals to give it some waterproofness. Definetly glad I picked this one up!!

Nicely done! The AR on the Sinns is amazing, always has been. Quick question, is my version the V2? I bought through a TD here, just not wearing as much as I should so consider selling.
