The wifey pic is there illustrate attractive curves. All women have curves and some are just far more attractive than others. Same with cars. All have curves and some are just far more attractive than others. I pose the question, Why is this so? No one seems able to suggest an answer. Yet, there is some generalized agreement among people. Certain women are generally acknowledged to be beautiful and certain men are generally acknowledged to be handsome. The opposite is also true. Same with cars. Most people agree the curves on a Ferrari 360 are beautiful and the curves on a Pontiac Aztec are ugly. Why? What in mankind gives us these agreements on the concept of beauty? There must be a reason. It cannot be due to chance. So who will hazard a guess as to why this exists? Anyone philosophical enough to have an idea?

As to BMWs. When Chris Bangle became head of BMW design he introduced 'flame surfacing' and "bangle butt" design language. It was generally considered to not be beautiful and you will see in the new 5 series a real move away from the Bangle design language. I expect the next 3 series to also retreat from Bangle design. You have a pre-Bangle BMW. Do you agree the Bangle design language did not make the BMW's beautiful but rather introduced odd and unharmonious shapes to the cars?

I own an 05 E46 330ci ZHP. By far way more sexy than the most recent evolution. IMO the sexiest cars out there have always been Ferrari and Aston Martin. Im a huge fan of the 550 and the DB7. I did lust after Lamborghini Countach 500 and Diablo VT's during my youth but find them more aggressive in looks and not as refined. The Gallardo has made a strong come back with flowing lines and aesthetic promise. One of my favorite designers in Giugaro who designed the Delorean DMC-12 which i owned. Truly a Gran Turismo and a gentelmans sportscar. Somewhat dated in looks now but is still a classic that is near to my heart.

As far as curves on women, I have been around the block...no lie.:ahw::whistle:
In fact, I have been around the world. I have my own "personal favorites" but I do have an example of what I classic model that I would love to take a ride around the block with.

I don't agree with you on the DMC. Sharp in its time certainly but the lines are too angular to have classic beauty IMO.

Now Selma, on that I can agree with you fully! And I am so glad she is Hispanic. I want to see beauty found and celebrated in every ethnic group so no one little girl grows up thinking they cannot be beautiful because they weren't born with blond hair and white skin.

This actually is a very good comparison of lines and curves. Look at the straight lines on the DMC. Now look at the gentle curves starting with Selma's shoulder, down her back, into the small of her back, across her butt, down the back of her leg to her toe. That is exactly the classic curved line I am talking about in design. Put those gentle curves on a car and you have a beautiful and classic shape like the Ferrari GTO, 360, 430, and California Beauty is curved, not straight, and a certain gentle arch of a curve. Go back to the photo of my wife and follow the same line from her shoulders down her back, across her butt and down her legs. See the same gentle curves? That is classic beauty.

The lines of this Porsche almost make me think an Italian designed it.

Porsche 918

All you would have to do is "defang" it a bit and it would have those classic curves!

Best looking Porsche in decades.

Ok, here is something I have gathered from observations and other peoples explanations.

What are you attracted to

Smooth Curves?

Or Angles?

The way humans are, women are atracted to masculine angles, men are atracted to smooth curves

men can either like italian design, the alfa, which is generally regarded as a sexy car, but some men like to have a masculine looking car, usually the men that feel they need to compensate for something(thats a fact)

deloreandmc: Good answer.

Let me expand it a bit.

Women who were attracted to masculine curves and men who were attracted to feminine curves "hooked up" more frequently, produced offspring more frequently and over hundreds of thousands (or millions) of years people with these genetic tastes were more successful in passing on their genetic preferences until those preferences became dominant in our society. Hence we generally agree on what makes a beautiful woman and what makes a handsome man because so many of us carry those genetic preferences.

Note also the ideal of beauty is in the middle. Nose not to long, nose not to short but "just right." Face not to long, face not to wide but "just right." Height not to tall or too short but "just right." I suggest people carrying genetic material which causes extreme looks also are more likely to carry genetic material with other extremes, like susceptibility to disease or extreme behaviors. Over hundreds of thousands (or millions of years) humans learned that extreme physical appearance could also signal extreme negative traits so we learned to avoid them just as animals learned to avoid trying to eat an animal with bad taste because it signaled that with a certain bright color. Visual clues serve to warn of unseen negatives.

Now for cars. Normal guys tend to like the feminine Italian lines. Normal guys also tend to like the "butch" lines of the American "muscle cars." The more macho the guy, the more he likes the muscle car. Its "muscle" appearance becomes an extension of his desire to present a macho image to others. The guy who doesn't feel such a need to express a macho image doesn't value the lines of a "muscle" car as much and is happy with the classic feminine Italian lines. One isn't right and the other wrong, it is just a preference in what they want to express and what they enjoy most.

Perhaps someone else and add more insight to what I have said.

Here's mine, an '03 VW Passat W8 (don't see too many of those on the road... got it for a great price compared to what they retailed for), sitting on top of Mt. Washington in Pgh:

Naaa, I don't get tickets. It so happened that I took that picture in my lunch time... hope you get my drift. As far as the trade from Am to Porsche, I look at it as an act of evolving. You might ask yourself WHY? Well, I will use the words of our beloved pres. William Clinton: Because I can :). My next evolution step will be the California and hopefully soon.

The California looks SLOW compared to the 458 Italia!

I love this, someone challenged me on the ownership of the Aston and 997tt... Well I am happy to send some kind of proof. My daughter featured in pics with both cars :) An other common feature you will see is the bug gutts all over the front on both cars. June-July-August is the worst timing to drive in Montana, your car will literally be covered with dead bugs:

and as might as well, show off my REPLICA CSL M3:

Wow! Very nice car you got there Matyoka (the DB9 is basically my dream car, with the Audi A8 W12) I'm definitely gonna get one of these when I'm older. You have a lovely family and I gotta say, Montana looks awesome. I wonder what you do for a living

Charles,

Thanks for the compliments. The Vantage sold to Canada, so that is not in my ownership anymore. The M3 will be going to West Virginia as the 997 turbo took over the 4 seat criteria. So I will be staying with the wifes X5 and a Ford Escort beater with over 170k miles on it. As far as the job goes, I gave out some hints when I mentioned that I dont get tickets.
