Great dogs. I've a staffie, a springer and a King Charles. (Did have two) My King Charles (Chester) spends his entire life with his nose to the ground trying to sniff out food. Our window cleaner left the gate open once and my staffie and springer just sat in the front garden but Chester went wandering. Luckily the guy who owns our local chippy around the corner is a close family friend and recognised Chester the minute he wandered into the chip shop looking for food.lol
Yup. They are great dogs. One of mine sniffs for food at all times. She is absolutely obsessed with food. The other two couldn't care less.

I made a new friend as I was on holiday in Italy. That lovely rottie was alone all day so he started barking at 7 am in the morning, which really pissed me off the first night.

I went to check on him the first morning and realized that this beautiful dog was just frustrated. He was alone all the time, he slept outside and only had a a 12 square meters yard without anyone to play with or any company whatsoever.

His barking was more like a wolf howling, very sad...

I went to see him a few times a day, every day. He would grab his tennis ball and bring it to me, just over the fence so I was able to play with him.

When you like dogs, it's amazing how they become nice to you quickly, they can truly feel it.

His owner does not deserve such a beauty. I learned afterwards that the owner was, just like me, on holiday so he had a lot of opportunities to take him out for a walk in the mountains.

Worst part is that the rest of the year, the big rottie lives in a small appartment in a city. I find that unfair but I could not do anything about it...

After some time playing with his ball, I could see that he wanted more. He wanted me to come inside his house and stay with him so he would lie down like this...

That's a beautiful dog.

Yes indeed. I have always been facinated by Rottweilers, and that one was perfect. My family kept telling me "don't go down there, he is going to bite you and smash you into pieces if you get in'', ''Rotts are dangerous'' and all the usual BS nonsense about big dogs.

I did proceed carefully and went in once with the dog owner dad's. I saw that he was welcoming and swinging his tail so I was confident he would not bite me for no reason.

However, in the long run, I understand how a dog treated that way can get furious!

I've been worrying non-stop to a few people lately about this (@Raddave, @WingNut, @JackJ1980, @occb2, @elloello just to name some...), but my girl had an apparently extreme case of pyrometra that was misdiagnosed twice and resulted in emergency life-saving surgery on Monday... hence the big watch sell off. I'm super thankful to everyone that bought my watches, especially to @SuperLory who handled two of my more expensive ones. That money let me pay off the surgery and hospitalization bills... though I still have a lot of follow-up bills coming up, so you may see some other stuff floating around eventually.

Unfortunately, my girl wasn't doing so great in the hospital, so they decided it would be best if we brought her home where she could settle down and hopefully eat normally... which she has been! Had our first follow-up appointment today and while her WBC is a bit high and her stitches are still inflamed, she's doing way better than they thought she would be doing two days ago before she left the hospital.

Now that I feel that she's out of the woods and I'm don't feel like I'm jinxing anything, here are a few pictures. :)

The pink shirt is a chew/scratch guard so that she doesn't pull at her stitches... she hates the conical collar, so we got the shirt instead. She's already working at eating the collar of the shirt, though...

She's a cutie @atgm. It really sucks when your animals are sick. They can't tell you how they feel and you can't explain what's going on. My Riley hated the satellite head when she was fixed. I had to take her back to the vet 3 times because she ripped it off. Hope you girl gets well soon.
