RIP Ziggy.

Well after 15 good and long years the time came to let our standard long haired dachshund go to his rest. We got him as a puppy and he was the most gentle and unassuming dog anyone could want.

Old age had finally caught up and it was time to let him have his reward...a comfortable and pain free release.

Here is a picture of him and his "brother" Brady...taken awhile back...Ziggy is on the right.

We will miss him terribly as we do all that have gone before him...God speed Zig...we'll be together again one day.

I'm sorry to hear that wingy. It's a very tough thing to do when let something we love go. My heart is with you my friend.

Thanks 5.0

We still have Brady and Cassie (our Collie)...life goes on, but as you well know it ain't easy sometimes.

We all have to hang on to the good things and blessings we still have...it is never easy during hard times, but hopefully everyone can have something that is good in their lives that makes life worth living.

I hope that's the case for each and everyone of you guys here.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss mate.. Growing up I had a German Shepard/Collie mix. I didn't have many "best" friends growing up, except him. It's been many years, but he will forever have a spot in my heart.

*pic and words heavy.. Sorry *

When my lady and I met, she had a lab that she grew up with. His names Blitzen. He's a goofy/pain in the ass friend. He doesn't know what he wants ever, except your attention. He just turned 9 this pasted November.

The Mrs tags me in pictures of dogs at rescues daily on Instagram. Usually, a couple a day. I always wanted another dog, but it was never the "right" time. We were in college/grad school, and then fresh out. Busy working, and such. Back in February, a local pitbull rescue The Mrs follows on IG a picture of a litter found in battery park NYC. They were three white puppies. All three were adopted super quick, and I was thankful. Well, then one was returned because he was diagnosed as being "deaf" at the vet. The owners decided they could not care for a special needs dog, and returned him to the rescue. The Mrs showed me and at that instant I filled out the application. Well, we got him and couldn't be happier. He's a big doofus. We have taught him many different sign language signs, tricks, and just about everything else a normal dog does. His eye site is not the "best" but he's no where near blind. (Deafness and eye problems go hand in hand with a lot of certain white dogs within breeds). I swear at times he's just really good at Ignoring you. The Mrs must have taught him extremely well! Lol

It's not hard by any means. All it did was require a little bit more attention, which all animals deserve anyways. The result? A dog that's loyal to us. A dog that will never leave our side, and a dog that has grown to become my best friend. He has developed something We call "spidey" senses. He can smell someone new in the house, whether dead asleep, chasing his tail, or eating a bone no matter if he's on the top floor or basement. He immediately stops what he is doing and goes to find out whose in the house. When we open the door he greats us usually after about 15 seconds, enough time to get a good smell of us. It's unbelievable, and there's no way to really describe it. But it's amazing at how well his other senses have developed. He knows when you walk up from behind him up and all.. I'll grab some videos for you guys when the moments right :) sorry for the story.... Haha

Here's a look!

When we first got him.

I had a yellow lab that was partially deaf and blind. She was born with part of the retina missing in both eyes. She was a great dog. Deaf dogs can also feel vibrations from sounds and clapping. That's a great looking pit bull.

Thanks Mate!

Yep! he can feel vibrations at certain low notes. Hilarious when he notices. Nearly jumps out of his skin.

I'm sorry for your loss jai04. In March this year my Chihuahuas Goldie and Russell passed away. Goldies cancer went for the worst and we had to put her down. About a week later her brother Russell joined her. We had them for 13 amazing years. My heart goes out to you my friend. I know how much it hurts.

To all of you who, by your posting here show that you care about your "four legged family"

I say family, not friends, because that's what they are...

I was not blessed with kids, even tho that would not change my feelings towards my pets...

Please...love them, take care of them, and when the time comes...let them go...as hard as it is....

Enjoy your holidays, include these knuckleheads...they know we love them...they are truly the only one's who understand "unconditional" love...

You can get pissed off, yell..whatever...guess what...they still come running to you...

Never forget that.

Happy Holidays,

Whitey

Here are a few of our "little" one. He is a great pyrenees and lab mix. Got him at 3 months old from the humane society and was a nice 30 pounds then, now he is about 120 and still thinks he is a lap dog!

First day we saw him!

We were looking for a dog when this little bundle wandered up the drive at my work. She was about 8 weeks, skin and bones and full of worms :( so we made her better and she's been our pet since last October!

Then:

Now:

She stole the oven gloves from the front of the oven while we were out...
She's completely loopy and likes to clown around a lot. No idea on mix to be honest but probably some staffy in there somewhere

That's mate! You can see in this picture his confidence and personality had grown. He used to be shy, and quite. Now he's the complete opposite, and one big muscle. But he's the sweetest dog ever. Showers you with kisses consistently.

Very cute! Aren't they just a blessing?

Yep! Make everything better

Bentley's first visit to the farm, we had a blast this photo is after he ran his heart out in the trails following us in the rzr's and atv's and just decided he wants to ride with us rather than running in the snowy trails.
