Before that, I found a member here selling the same thing, pearl and silver numerals and all, shot him a PM... fingers crossed for a positive response.
I tried aging a DRSD (chronicled my trial, error, and frustration in the Vintage section) and what I learned from that is I need to let other people work on my watches[emoji23].
I haven't developed the ultra-gen tick yet, so frankens haven't really been on my radar. But this thing is like a disease. The more I read, the faster it spreads. Have you posted about any of your builds? I'm interested in seeing them/reading about them.
I have a TC v6 with gen insert coming in and am so excited to see it in person. I actually want to swap the gen insert for a gen blue insert to make it a bit more unique, even though there's no "real" rolex like that... and it makes me feel kind of bad, given how hard TC has worked to make a great sub!
A lot of gen people (including me) put other shit on their watches that Rolex never produced that way.
Examples? Sure..
Red DateDisc on a Yachtmaster
Green DateDisc on a LV
Blue inserts on both LV and LN
etc etc. I could go on, it's nothing to worry about.
Good to hear! Now I just have to source a blue-silver insert.
Do you happen to know if any of the rep ones will fit?
ProDivers had a beautiful gen for sale that I missed, here's hoping another will show up! In the meantime, it has a gen insert -- just a standard sub though. Still hoping to make it a little more unique. No clue don't go the cheap route though. It's all or nothing with those inserts. Aftermarket sucks if you ask me.
Everything sucks besides TC v2 inserts and gen if you ask me.
A gen blue insert will run you about $100 if you're using an old faded to silver 16613 insert. I've seen a few people do it, their pieces looked sick.

Someone a page ago found some, $280 is a little rich for me.Might aswell check Chrono24 or TRF for parts. There are quite decent ones most of the time... Just a little tip.

Someone doesn't like to be called someone!
Sorry! I couldn't remember your name and Tapatalk was being finicky.
I really appreciate you looking over there for me.
Yeah, I have the same issue. I've done my own watch work and usually send it out for a rework. I've been really happy with misiekped's work on my watches. He's the best watchsmith I've found to work on our replica watches. He has a section over on rwg.bz now if your interested.
I posted a picture of my watch a few posts back in this thread. This one is an LN with a genuine insert and crystal. I have been contemplating a genuine tube and crown but I'm already in deep. I picked up a used genuine crown on M2M and the first thing I noticed was the sparkle improvement over the TC crown. It's also slightly shorter...
But it is a disease... because once you learn something about your watch, it's difficult to stop seeing it. For the longest time, the TC crown looked perfect. Then I learned some new things... The gen crown is slightly shorter and also has a very slight gap between the case and the seat of the crown. So now the TC crown looks strange to me... thus my lust for moar!
Long story short, I'll probably pick up a brand new crown and tube and send it to misiekped for work..
Yeah, I've heard he's the best, and fastest. I was going to send something off to him, but figured it out myself. I'll definitely enlist him to service them though.
And now, because of you, I'm going to go look for a gen crown, compare it to the TC, realize it's just better in every way, and thus begins my ruin. Then a gen crystal, then a gen insert, and then a gen 3135, and by then, I might as well have just bought the 16610 at C24 or Joma for $6,000[emoji23].
Hey Look don't come crying to me, my Checking account hasn't been this low in years! As we speak I have one with rnrprof, one with Adrian, 5 with VAC, One on its way to Zocker! oh yea and two in the mail from Sead.. Only good thing is my Visa bill has gone down by 50% because the only trip I take is from this keyboard to one of three strategically placed watch boxes. I've convinced myself that if I spread them out it doesn't look like I'm a CRAZY PERSON.

Well, if you do get a Gen, you'll definitely want to buy the seller before the watch....
I've seriously considered (and still do consider) buying a gen. My wife would be pissed, but it's within reach.
However, it is fun to just have this hobby too... I think on a TC, arguments/debates aside. A gen crystal, insert and crown is the best you can do. You can go deeper with a serviced Yuki 3135, gen dial... but IMHO, the dial is great. The movement, once regulated, is great.... And even TC's latest insert is great!!! but I've had them all back to back in-hand, and gen is gen.
And then i circle back around to considering a gen.... but hey... it beats wearing a canal street POS on your wrist.
