It’s early we won’t know until TD’s are back in full swing and people try sending stuff fedex.I was just gonna mention that! Saw it here: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/usps-suspends-packages-china-hong-kong/
It says "temporarily". Would this mean that FedEx / UPS, etc., would take over any packages coming from China? Or, like a user said above, that triangle shipments would occur? Sounds like a nightmare.
M2M is gonna be the way to go, I think. Thank God for RWI!
Yeah not even the news agencies know anything. This just randomly happened like an hour ago. I’m guessing it’s some weird bluffing “technique” used by the current “administration”.I’m assuming no one knows more than I do, and I’m not one to usually worry about a shipment, but my order went through customs on Jan 26, sat in Chicago ISC till Feb 2, when it then updated to “in transit”. It’s a China Post package and hasn’t yet been transferred to USPS, hence my concern.
Cannot find any additional information other than the USPS’ 3 line press release. Even when announcing they aren’t delivering packages they do a bad job!
It's not you. The aliexpress subreddit and chinesewatches (aliexpress watches) subreddit all report the same thing.I’m assuming no one knows more than I do, and I’m not one to usually worry about a shipment, but my order went through customs on Jan 26, sat in Chicago ISC till Feb 2, when it then updated to “in transit”. I would not be so sure of that - I use FedEx a lot - with the elimination of the 800 dollar declaration rule all packages have to be inspected and duty costs assigned to them for payment regardless of cost. Packages will sit until they can be inspected by us customs. That’s not a FedEx problem.FedEx and ups will be so overwhelmed if this lasts more than a few days that I’m sure our watches will be safe from seizure. They’ll be completely swamped.
I can’t imagine what a cluster F this is going to be if EVERY package (even ones under $800) needs to be inspected and assigned duty. We’ll probably see double the shipping time. At least.I would not be so sure of that - I use FedEx a lot - with the elimination of the 800 dollar declaration rule all packages have to be inspected and duty costs assigned to them for payment regardless of cost. This is complete insanity. WowWashington Post just shared that "USPS, in reversal, resumes accepting packages from China and Hong Kong"
No doubt there will be continued chaos on this front, regardless... IMO.
not just we..We’re fucked
Agreed. but US customs delays are not Fedex / UPS / DHL's issue or service guarantee. The clock stops when it lands in Newark, Indianapolis, etc.I can’t imagine what a cluster F this is going to be if EVERY package (even ones under $800) needs to be inspected and assigned duty. TD's will find a way - Theres a large economic segment around low cost goods coming to America, for segments where its worth while, like replica goods in general, they will bounce it through mexico or something. Someone enterprising will act. Patience is going to be the key for now, let the chaos erupt, and hang loose... CNY is going on right now, so the real impact / alternatives are yet to be known.not just we..
we are in a very specific niche, albeit the grandaddy of the rep world..
BUT, the implications of customs cracking down specifically on CHINA and HK Parcels is gamechanging...
all reps in this day and age are now affected... everything as in everything coming from china will be under scrutiny and everything that has a "Logo" is suspect to customs now..
I have expanded my reach far beyond watches and do order designer branded clothing etc as well as the occasional bag for the boss (aka wife) but I'll be damned if for my most recent real-world example: I have to explain to customs about my 10KG parcel where everything is Louis Vuitton and such..
of course explaining is by far the lesser punishment than for them to actually say.. collect customs duty
ouch. ouch.
the rep world as we know it for the next 4 years.. has been changed. Can our EU friends please fill me in on what this triangle shipping thing they do is?! LOL! america is as you succinctly stated.. is fucked
you realize how many orders have been placed and are literally being shipped right now? because as you said.. As an "EU friend", I can of course say very little about the situation in the USA. But as a German, I can tell you that it is a complete illusion that every package is really checked by customs.the rep world as we know it for the next 4 years.. has been changed. Then the watches will just be sent via Singapore or even the UK. Some TDs even still have the ancient Triangle infrastructure in the UK, which was actually intended for the EU ;-)you realize how many orders have been placed and are literally being shipped right now? because as you said.. CNY is over
you think the chinese sellers care at all?? they're just going to ship the packages and let us deal with whatever may happen
TD's may take a longer time and see how to navigate these waters but i don't think you understood what it means that the usa has begun re-accepting packages from china and HK... they are accepting them to inspect them. Regardless of how small the package may be.. if it's from china/hk.. it's being set aside to be inspected. It's not like before where they really just target the wholesaler-type hauls and let us individual consumers go thru
I can tell you that it is a complete illusion that every package is really checked by customs.
