Cabobimmer - any chance of seeing in more detail, the junction between the denim and the leather? it looks like one just morphs into the other but I am sure that's a trick of the pic - is there a leather backing all the way that you have perhaps shved down to accommodate the denim?

Yes the denim overlays the leather on both sides, it was very hard and thick but I left it bent the all night and now is soft

Thanks for your comment but as Ale mantioned, I posted the straps I have made so far to get good or bad comments only NOT to sell them. Sales has to be done at the sales section and not here.

Thank you all for liking my job.

thanks for your comments :) and please forgive my ignorance... but what is the black coating for the buckle holes? thanks!!!

EDIT: LOL sorry I didnt understand at first reading, and yes you are right, also the frog skin absorbs inmediatelly the dye, when I realized I made the bleeding on purpose to give some darkening around the buckle hole and the middle holes on the large strap, but they might not look good? thank you for you honest opinion, without them I will never improve.

I figured it was an over-absorption issue. Alligator hide does the same thing. If you haven't yet, try a product by fiebing's called "edge kote". It's good for edges and holes on porous hide like frog.

Dyeing leather is a pain in the ass. Last week I took my first shoot at dying some leather and I've spend my last week and a good amount of money on dyes just to achieve a certain color. Not easy at all, dyes react different on different leather, bleed, change color from oils and when you think you're done a protective coat can mess everything up. Took one week of trial and error to achieve one damn color but I'm starting to understand how dyes react on leather.
Anyway today while waiting for my final piece of leather to dry I've build my first test strap but in a different color , here are some pics, damn thing has over 8mm, I thought I'll have to take the buckle screw out to take it off. The burnish is from rubbed beeswax.

Nice job and the baseball strap is very creative! I have worked with leather a little bit making jesses (leg straps) and hoods for my bird (see my avatar)...and know how hard it is to make quality leather pieces. I MIGHT attempt a strap at some future point but I'm scared of one thing-the stitching! How to get the stitching even and to stand out (what stitch thread/material to use) in the right way is beyond me. Looks like your stitching might need some tweaking although I couldn't give you any advice on how to do it because I couldn't do half as well! Maybe the strap gurus here can chime in? How do they do the perfectly even stitching and what material do they use?
