Should be FC but you are talking tourbillon price point for it which will more than likely to rock miyota.

Lol the high price tag is typical for those "outside" dealers. They always claim any movements in the reps as Swiss ETA and fool the average Joe.
The case should be FC but it looks better than the FC case currently on the RM011. The pattern is just more defined. Hopefully it's an auto.

Hopefully it's miyota, at least its gen and will last a life time. Lol

Hi J,
I don't think anyone has yet to perform any meaningful mods with RM.
One of the problems is the screws and lack of proper screw driver.
The screws themselves are reported to be quite brittle and spares are not readily available.
Especially With RM038, re-anodisation of the movement plate and parts will bring it up to another level (along with transparent DW) , but such tasks are reserved for someone with your caliber. ;-)

Thanks for the answers positivity, and wooky. I really need to get a RM to see what I can do. Problem is finding a good one. The best ones seems to be not readily accessible to our TDs. But I will look around.

Thanks J,
I'll look around as well. I'm sure with your midas touch, RM reps will at least be 1st class reps. :-D

Currently modding an RM052.
Will be very close to gen once completed.
List of mods as long as my arm, taking a long long time, will be worth it.
Will post full details on a new thread once completed, along with before and after photos and comparison to gen.
We had no issues removing the screws, tool was made and all good.

Great news yentob.
Are you able to share how you made the tool?

Looking forward to your project mate. Sounds interesting. Are we talking about real tourbillion here or just cosmetic mods? Give us a teaser [emoji4]

Someone tell me if my theory is off track:

I'm noticing an increase of Instagram posts belonging to jewelers claiming to buy and sell high end watches, to include various RM Models. Understanding, RM pieces are produced in VERY limited quantities; depending on the model some more than others.

My theory is somehow these jewelers are dealing in one-off replicas. Just by the number of posts I'm seeing, it's becoming harder and harder to believe they're dealings in gens. Now, that's not to say that some, if not many, are gen. But honestly! All these so called jewelers happen to get their hand on Richard Mille's. Just not buying it. I maybe wrong and it wouldn't be the first time.

So, assuming my theory is correct. Where are they getting their pieces from? Who's building them?

I think that if you're trully a jeweler it's really risky to sell a rep like a gen. I mean if they do this it's the end of their boutique.
Richard Mille in my opinion is not really producing in small quantity, in fact i think that they do very limited quantities of models per collection. But there's a lot of different collection.

But on an other half i agree with you that something is strange, for example when you check on chrono24 you can see that worldwide there is not so many models for sell. So i assume that RM market is something really off the grid and doesn't get sold on the classical market as any typical watches. And gets sold only between closed circles.

But i'm not sure either about my theory.

pe.geffroy You may be correct. They could be legitimate jewelers who happen to sell RMs. In the back of my mind I'm wondering if they feel it's worth the risk. Imagine if you could spend $4k to build a $64k piece that's a true 1:1 to the gen...indistinguishable unless you take it back to the RM factory....that you could sell for $64k. Keep in mind, some will pay gen prices for an obvious rep to the untrained eye. APs and Rolex are perfect examples. They're repped well enough to when disassembly is the only means of telling them from the gen.

Again, I may be wrong but I'm just not sold. All things considered, it is Instagram too. So, everything should be further scrutinized.

Keep in mind that the first price for a second hand RM is 54K€.

And this price is for the most classical RM, the mechanism and the movement in most RM is generally crazy, the work involved in each piece is quite huge !

The thing that bugs me is that if someone really wanted to creat a perfect 1:1 rep of an RM he would need to spend lot of money in investing in the right tools, and also a huge investment on the machinery !

For a Rolex or an AP it's not too hard to replicate because they're no real complication, but when it comes to RM or even Patek Philippe with the skymoon tourbillon it's almost impossible to recreate the movement ! I'd be curious to know what other thinks ! But if tomorow someone makes a perfect RM for 4K i'd buy it !!

I don't hope too much for RM complications. If they make 052 with the right polish and 1:1 looking skeletonized movement I'll be more than happy.
By the way, I received Tony's 052 today.
It HAS the skeletonized movement!! :-D

So jealous right now.

I'm looking forward to seeing the modded 052 yentob is working on.
