Greetings everyone,
I have a build planned, as a present, of a 6694/1500 with a Minnie dial.
First of all I have to mention @manodeoro for being extremely patient and helpful regarding my inquiry. You sir really are the best!
I managed to find a Minnie Mouse dial for a 6694on eBay, I am also looking into buying a 1500 case, which would in theory fit the dial.
The question remains, how do I go about the movement, as I see it the options are following:
1. Source a gen movement, either a 1225 or a 1575/1565, this would in theory fit straight into the case, and match all other gen parts, at worst the dial feet from the 6694 fial would have to be repositioned.
The problem: very pricey, and hard to come by, additionaly, any service on the watch would be tough.
2. Source a VS/VR3135, it should (emphasis on should) match with the crown, stem, hands, etc.
The problem: dial feet would more than likely have to be repositioned, and I have no idea whether the stem, crown, hands, date, etc. would line up in the case, and whether all of it would fit together seamlessly.
3. Go the ETA route, source a gen 2824-2 or similar movement which would fit.
The problem: Dial feet certainly have to be repositioned, date wheel overlay would be needed, as well as a movement spacer. Additionaly, there are no 6694/1500 hands available that fit straight onto ETA movements AFAIK. Another problem would be finding a movement spacer which would fit straight in without needing dremeling and sanding, and stem, pinion height, as well as crown position are questionable.
4. Whatever you guys suggest.
I’ve sweeped the forum for as much info as possible, but still have basically no idea which option would be best.
Looking forward to hearing from the guys and gals who know much more than I do!
