I'd like to swap the crystal on a 5513 Submariner from the existing 'top hat' style (top watch in image) to a flatter dome style (second watch in image).

I don't have access to the watch yet, and don't have a vernier caliper. Please can anyone tell me the crystal size/diameter for a Raffles 5513 case.

Also, where I can order a Sternkreuz/Clark etc. crystal similar to the bottom version of the watch in the image. Preferably in UK.

Please excuse my dodgy Photoshop efforts!

No idea how big a raffles case is. I just use JKF cases. However cousinsuk.com is a great source for plexi xtals. Perfect for you if you are based in the UK as you do not have to pay the stupid taxes and charrges to import them. It used to be so simple.

Anything with a plexi glass case does not have a gasket. The gasket is only used on rigid sapphire and mineral xtals.

That's very useful info, thanks. I'll have a look at CousinsUK. But I guess I still the diameter info. Cheers!

Thank you. It looks like this might be the one I need.

XS305.451 Sternkreuz, Rolex No.19 (Ø305mm)

I just need to confirm the diameter is 30.5 mm.

Although, something a little more low-profile would be good...

the thread.
But he references a JKF
No clue about the Raffles. Did you already buy it or are you theorycrafting for the momznt?

The watch is still in the post, but here soon. I would like to get a lower profile crystal, but don’t have the means to measure the case/crystal.

If you are considering pursuing this hobby to any extent, I strongly recommend you purchasing something like this- measurements are a constant necessity to get anything done in watchmaking.

take it from a fellow newbie modder and tinkerer...
At one point, you will start spending almost as much money into tools as into watches 😅
Any recommendations for a crystal press? Will a cheap one be okay?
