Thank you JWIN36 for some really good shots and for your feedback. Lume shots are difficult and need the camera to be on a stable surface like a tripod and preferably setting your camera on a 10-12sec delay so that the camera stops shaking after pressing the shutter button. With the low light, the shutter speed takes a long time so any micro movement will show up as blur. Which of your lume shots would you say is the more accurate colour to your eye, the first one which is a bit greener or the bottom which is bluer?
While I am new to RWI, I have come to respect kennygconspiracy's view a lot so I cannot wait for his hands-on feedback.
In regards to IP, I think it takes a lot of mental gymnastics to try and state that the designs aren't stolen. In this game, we have homage, tributes, replicas, and cheap fakes, all of which take someone else's ideas to various degrees. Like most things in life, there should be a balance and to me, I know that replife is blatantly stealing someone else's design, but also there is still craftsmanship and skill to replicate the gens as close as possible on a limited budget and I respect that too. Having acknowledged the validity of IP in this world, I do have to state that IP laws have become ridiculous. It's very rare for anyone to have a truly unique idea and we have thrived as a society by building upon the ideas of others. Some colours, shapes, naturally occurring designs etc have now been successfully claimed through IP law and that is wrong. Due to the vast financial power of big organisations, we now see IP violations being dealt with thdough criminal law when it should be confined to civil. I'll stop my rant there but it is something I am passionate about having practised IP law for a time in a past life.
We shouldn't kid ourselves. We are buying unauthorised copies and this is unlawful and arguably immoral. Trying to pass them off as gen is disingenous, but there is also no obligation to state whether it is gen or a rep. Let's just accept the beauty of these pieces for what they are and value the joy they bring to us personally. While we may be able to convince some they are real, there's no need to. Most people will have made up their mind as to whether it's a fake or gen based on other aspects of who you are and what you do.
I've had people think some of my gen pieces have been fake and while it used to bother me, it doesn't anymore. Having said that, I am curious as to whether anyone will spot my RXF, be able to label it a fake, and explain to me in detail why. And even if they can, I'll appreciate their eye for detail, knowledge on the subject, and it won't take away from my personal joy of this watch.
