Well mine is a Y serial, which is supposed to be the latest batch and with poor light you can’t barely see the numerals. Plus it sits flush with the bezel which gives it some kind of “fat” look. Don’t get me wrong, it’s the best Sub I’ve had, hands down, but the insert is by far its worst part. It that one is much better I don’t want to even think about the previous ones...

Is it possible as these are possibly transitional you got an older insert? Also we know assembling is hit and miss too.

It appears that the cyclops being angled slightly too far clockwise in relation to the DW is common on the RXF and is present on my QC pic too. I'm wondering how it will look in-hand.

Also, I'm feeling that my date is slightly fat. Is this the only place where it is socially acceptable to type that sentence?

I'm starting to feel like the little knowledge I have is a dangerous thing as I notice (or think I notice) more flaws. I have to keep my increasingly paranoid brain in check.

As an aside, I have spent just as much time looking at Maupinator's QC pics as my own. I much prefer the JTime QC shots he posted as the factory QC shots I received from Trusty are overblown in brightness and take away from the boldness and beauty of the piece.

Paint around date window is kinda goopy but not much wrong in this picture

Even if the pictures from JTime are perfect and nice i found that our watches from Trusty show more flaw like this misaligned date and cyclop

I probably won the lottery with that one, on the bright side all the RL's of misaligned cyclops will end on a 'special price sale'-stack so it will still be cheaper even with the prof xtal.

With the improvements in reps, we may get to a point where they are indistinguishable from gens. I mean, that's the goal.

What do you think the chances are that my misaligned cyclops and goopy paint will be considered a manufacturing flaw that multiples its value? I'm thinking along the lines of misprinted stamps and incorrectly minted coins...

As you can see, my fantasy doesn't just end with pretending to have a Sub.

I dont think thats the goal. Also, gens are expensive for a reason. Of course at some level you are paying for the name, but the quality is on another level. If the rep factories were actually making watches on par with the Gens, the reps would be a lot pricier.

Not to mention, these watches are more a novelty and in the end I'm buying a rep that I want the gen version of someday. You cant just buy the rep and call it a day?!?! Let it be motivation. Reps are just stolen property anyway. They steal the designs and work of other companies so even if you cant support the original company for the time being, you should still aim to. Also, I'm a one watch at a time type of person. Having a rep collection does not make sense to me personally.

Couple of things:

- Even defects from Geneva don't add value so many gen rollies come with defects and buyers take them back to service to have these fixed. Crooked markers, misaligned date / cyclops this is normal with gen rollies. Check TRF forum for gen rollie flaws the forum is full of these.

- There never will be a perfect rep this has been discussed many times and is being discussed right now in an other topic. It's same like with smartphones you have to keep pushing new models out every year to continue making money. Rep factories have the same business model if they make a perfect copy it's game over. Also it's less about being able to produce a perfect rep it's more about QC which is bad with reps and QC flaws will always be present. These are put together in large volumes by low cost workers in some warehouses.

But let's stay on topic with the RFX.

I apologise. My last message was tongue-in-cheek and I never meant for it to be taken seriously. Back to the RXF...

Mine is a V2s 114060 so not sure if they have an updated insert again or it is pot luck. This is mine in lower light. It is certainly better than the previous Zzf’s I’ve owned but maybe not up to gen levels.

Well that looks good indeed! Might contact Li to get myself one of the new inserts then, thanks for the pic mate!

Now sorry for the off topic, let’s get back to the RXF.

According to V2S owners its updated and better in low light also better pearl and better black. Check the V2S no-date thread. It should come with the V2S no-date right now as standard.

There are 2 posts about the new clean insert in Li’s blog I think its the latest one by the post dates https://jtime.cc/us/blog/ (overview and side by sides all are there).

Mmmm. The dark night is on pa(troll) it seems. Please don't arrest me, since I have a fairly substantial rep collection. Wouldn't want to be judged by you, the shame will kill me.

Let me help you with some reading comprehension. One, reps are stolen property. Thats merely a statement of fact. Two, legitimate watch companies suffer as a result of counterfeiting, also a statement of fact. Three, when I say
Having a rep collection does not make sense to me personally.
that is merely an opinion; a subjective, non-judgemental claim. I own a rep, but just one for the reasons I stated. I find it interesting that you feel trolled by these statements.Perhaps you didnt read the comment I was responding to. For clarity, I enjoy the rep world for the reason that it pulls you into watches and you learn things you otherwise would not have given the cost prohibitive hobby of expensive watches. I was merely responding to Rol.exe's comment in which he states that the goal of rep factories was to make reps that are indistinguishable from gen. What exactly is the issue you have with what I said?

Get out of here with your holier-than-thou bullshit. You really believe there’s $8,500 worth of horological know how, steel and finishing in a Submariner? I’ll let you into a secret - there isn’t.

There are many reasons why we are here - a rep as a stepping stone may be yours, but cut out thinking your way should be the same for everyone else. Smh.
