Looks good By-Tor.
The watch has that Tag Link look.

This may push me in the direction of my next watch.

Thanks,
Natron

Nice Review By-Tor. I held the BTR white/blue GMT and fell in love with it until they gave me a price. I said is that dollars or pecos? I waited for the rep and was disappointed. This discovery is very nice and a consideration for any Ebel Fan or wanna be like me.

Damn,, I love that blue/white model... very nice bytor!

Great review as usual!!

For me, it was the Porsche Design that got me out of the big 3 or 4 makers..

Again,, thanks for such a great review bytor.. :)

Thanks guys!!!

@d4me: There's no blue anywhere on the watch... the blue "hue" on the dial shots come from the double AR. ;)

Great review By-Tor. The 1911 is a great looking watch and as always your stunning pics do it justice. Like the dial choice in white as well. And the "hidden clasp" on it. Very cool.

I'm planning on picking this piece up soon. Quick question regarding the color of the subdials for anyone who has purchased this watch already. Although it has been pointed out that the blue color on the subdials is actually just from the AR on the TT site it says the chrono needles are actually blue??? Isn't the panda watch just a white dial with black chronos silver needles except @ 12 and 6 where they are black?

I blame By-Tor's ridiculous photo talent for having me totally confused on the color of the white dial "panda".

@Cooter: There's no blue anywhere on the watch, except for the double AR which adds blueish hue.

The pics in my article have been shot in a lightbox, and they're contrasted... so the subdial rings appear black... but they're actually dark grey.

This picture (next to my gen GMT) gives a good idea of the colors and size. It's the most accurate rep I've ever seen. 99% visually similar with the gen. Chrono needles are not blue.

First of all I want to send a big THANK YOU to By-Tor for yet another great review! :)

I have a question about the date wheel on the rep compared to the gen.

Have a look at these 2 pics. First one from By-Tor's review. The second on is a shot from the real deal.

Do you see that number 1 is different on the 2 watches? (inf fact also the M and N. They are more narrow on the real one)

So my question is this; Does the black version have the same issue? (I've really tried to find images of a rep with the black dial. But unfortunately, the few I can find, doesn't show have any 1's in the date wheel)

and also; is this an easy fix if one wants to be soooooo picky and have the exact right date wheel font (and if so, how much might it cost to fix)?

Cheers

The black rep version is the same as the white ...

I suppose if one is picky, the day & date wheels can be replaced. I'm interested to know the costs involved too. :D

Thanks BT. I REALY, REALY love this watch. So much so that if it were 2Gs for the gen here I would start saveing. Regretfully in Aussie dollars it's more like 4.5Gs. I have held the rep and gen side by side in my hands and can confirm that they are so close the owner (he owns the pair) has trouble telling them appart. He has a small mark on the caseback of the rep to help. I have a feeling the date font may have improved because it does not appear different to the gen on the onep I have seen. The pushers started out about a mm too long but on his it's more like a half mm so there may well have been changes. I wish the owner ( a client) would sell me the rep he bought to road test the gen (as is his pratice) but he keeps the pair allways.
Guess it's cookie jar time.

IMO this should have been rep of the year . The afore mentioned De Wit should have been a close second.

Thanks guys,

yes I 100% agree that this was the rep of the year 2008. At least when it comes to accuracy. It's incredibly accurate in every possible way.

Too bad it's an Ebel, so it didn't attract the masses.

Goes to show how important brand recognition is! Beautiful design, quality time piece but its let down by the brand. Lack of demand plus the price & poor resale value of this piece will probably put many people off. I'm with trailboss99 on its pricing... i like this one so much that i would have otherwise gone for the gen piece.

Yeah, I agree 100% - but in my opinion, it can sometimes also be kind of nice when the watch you are wearing is not fully known by everybody.

I placed an order on this watch earlier this week. This was after I'd read your excellent review BT. (Will post pics as soon as it arrives.)

So I just want to thank you once again for all the effort and time you put in to this one, and of course all your other reviews!

Cheers

Yep it's an Ebel but they make a good watch and this one in panda guise is drop dead georgous! I think this is one you have to see IRL to fully appreciate just how nice it looks. I also agree that it's nice to have a watch that not everyone is aware of. No one is going to asume this one is a fake unlike Rolex, Omega et al. I realy belive that even if you showed this one to an AD you would have a hard time convincing him it's not real untill he got out the verniers.
Hmmmm, I wonder if gen pushers would fit . . .

BTW, what's the current price on these babies? The Aussie dollar is begining a slow crawl back and by the time I save enough it may be high enough to make this a worth while purchase.

Damn it BT, you cost me a lot of money I hope you realise!
Yeah, yeah, I know: "In that case my work here is complete" :)

hi there thanks for the great review

i am very keen on this watch and it'll probably be my next purchase (either this or the Tag Grand Carrera)

i was also wondering, is there a box set floating around out there for this watch?

thanks!

Thanks man.

Box set... not that I know of. Actually I wouldn't mind a Ebel box set myself. ;)
