Guys, if you don't know who it is it means it doesn't and probably won't affect you. Let's respect the decision of the OP to keep this confidential for now. It's his call. As other mods have said, we're working on this. At the moment there is no need to worry. Please be patient while we look into it and also realise that it's the weekend, there are time differences, etc.

Sorry Roo, I disagree.

re: enough is enough!

You guys sure are in a hurry to lock threads.

That was of a huge amount of interest to a lot of people of this forum. And there was nothing posted that should have required locking.

I, personally, have $750 with that dealer and it's long overdue for some meaningful information to come out.

I will wait patiently for this thread to be locked also.

Ok, but how does this help? We're doing all we can for now. Everything this dealer did he did in the public forum. People can see his posts about delays, his requests for money, etc. It's all out there. There is currently no evidence to suggest he's lying. But we're trying to be alert. Let us work out something out with him, or at least investigate things further... There's no point in lighting up torches and sharpening pitchforks yet.

Im not digging the thread locking either.I thought we could air our grips when we get hosed by a dealer. I hope it pans out. $1000.00 is alot of money to have disappear.
The Admin and Mods here are pretty good at getting dealers to yield from what i have seen. I have not bought a watch from a dealer because of some bad transactions.

I have to respectfully disagree (sorry guys).

I support the Admin on this one. The ones who need to know do, and the Admin are working on it - so the thread had nowhere to go but way down hill. Perhaps if the Admin can't get any answers then a new thread about it will pop up. But for now, instead of everyone just venting we should put it to bed until there are some answers.

I've read several threads asking this particular dealer about any information about the watch in question and to my knowledge, none have ever been replied to.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the guy, but apparently this is going to be the only way that any updates are going to come out. And I think the frustration of the other purchasers need to be heard. Both by the other members here as well as the dealer and the manufacturer.

Nope. Perhaps it can be unlocked. Nothing would make me happier than to report that I am a paranoid jerk, and everything is cool. However, being in the business of risk management, it's a cardinal sinn these days to see a possible situation and do nothing about it.

That said, rwi staff are on this (thanks!!) and I will definately let you know how this works out.

And my guess is you've got no dog in this hunt, as the old saying goes. What the hell is a forum for if not exchanging information both good and bad about dealers and watches.

If it's going to be a one sided conversation we should just fold up the tent and move on.

OK, I missed the the thread that has been apparently locked. (?) Regardless, I have to agree with Watchbuff. Opinions and facts as we know them are what we share on this and other forums. Good, bad, indifferent.

If stated opinions are not libelous or knowingly misleading (out an out lies) they should not be banned on an open forum. Heck, the cat fights are sometimes more interesting than the watch info that day.

carnut i know the mods and staff are working hard for you and i hope you are just a paranoid jerk............. :wideeyed:

as you have said lots of people have paid thousands of $$$ ,with no items as of yet ......

thje admins should look into this and in future no dealer can ask for paymernt upfront and wait 1 year ???????????????????

the admin could act as middleman with the dealer to hold the cash till the item is delivered .........

but the person doing this to make a good profit should cost it himself , risks can make good profits ................ asking people to pay that much (a deposit is fine ) dealers have to fund the project to make money not the punter fund it for them

The thread got locked, not because discussion on the issue was being closed down for good, more it was a temporary stay pending the response to the PM's being sent to the dealer in question. In truth, nothing constructive can be gained at this point by generating mass hysteria.

Right or wrong, the dealer's business structure, as it stands, requires access to these funds to complete the project. If a handful of people start pulling out what they can, there's a chance that everyone will lose everything they've invested, because some of those funds were sent months and months ago.

So please rest assured that the staff is aware of this problem and will do everything possible to ensure that no one is cheated. Until then, try not to make any hasty decisions.

I've merged these two threads now, and so long as it doesn't start to go the pitchfork way, we'll leave this thread opened for comments.

Fair enough?

That is how sometimes locking a thread may arise even heavier hysteria...
Bad move imho, with the best intentions, of course, but strategically a mistake.
Anyway let's let the men deal with it and let's not point our fingers towards the worried guys who don't want to lose their grand, either. This forum has always done its job so far, I confidently hope it will in this case too.

P.S. I know for sure that Carnut IS a paranoid jerk, so no arguments about that either.

Why bother posting a thread like this if you're not going to share who the dealer is. How can the dealer be held accountable if it's a "secret?" In my mind, if you have a problem like this that you have to share, then share. If not, then keeping the "secret" puts doubt on other dealers. What if someone assumed it was BK? Sounds like something a lot of other people are going through as far as waiting- is it fair for me to assume this? Is it fair to BK if it's not him?

Don't be so wishy-washy...

I agree mass panic wont help but as an ex commercial bank manager there has to come a point when more funding has to be stopped when production/delivery has failed and time scales keep shifting the wrong way. You cannot accept that throwing more money at this will sort this out. Of course I dont know who the dealer is and as some have said - if I dont know then it wont affect me. However, and please dont shoot the newbie, I would like to know who it is as it may well influence me in using this dealer and ultimately - that is my decision - isnt it?

I think that would be up to Carnut since it's his thread.

But let's face it, everybody who's been around more than a few months, knows who it is.

I see your point but as the new start section of this website shows new members are joining everyday and hence have not been around for 'a few months'. Are they at risk of buying a product from this dealer who may be experiencing a few problems at present? If you dont act now and at least put some type of politically correct warning or well articulated reason for hanging on before you use this dealer then more guys may be at risk?!?

In this particular case, if you weren't in on it at the beginning, I don't think you can even get in on it now, so no worries on that.

As I said before, everything is out there in the open. If anyone wants to buy from a dealer, have a look at their section... Any recent complaints or issues? Anything odd? Draw your own conclusions...

As someone who also sent this guy a few hundred dollars, I should mention that this was not the typical sale either. We're not ordering a 21J UPO from a website. We're ordering very specific and unique pieces that are each made individually and with lots of painstaking modifications. We always ask noobies to have patience in this game. Well, this is a whole different level of patience, and anyone who has ever bought one-of-a-kind or customised products (even legal ones) should know what I'm talking about.

So, all I'm saying is: wait till we know more. There isn't yet a reason to freak out. Some of us have waited a year... how can 24 hours more hurt?
