So, progress on my GMT project can resume (when I get the time, and until I do the next stupid thing...). :)

Looks great good sir. Happy to see postage went smooth as well.

Potentially managed to identify which dial this replicates. Not that it makes much difference if one is not looking to recreate a specific model but it’s nice to see that it kinda belongs..

Domed Xtals anyone?

http://www.lobtime.com/1675-crystal.html

I've come across this site while looking for a domed Xtal for my 1675 build. I might get in contact with these guys and see what is what in terms of sizes etc.

Picked a domed T38 replacement from Clark's and after a month of waiting it arrived. Unfortunately it doesn't fit, too short, it doesn't come all the way down on the lip.

So are these any better than an appropriate Sternkreuz from Cousins? Helluva price difference!

I prefer a cyclops, so I'm going with the Sternkreuz XS302.450 (equivalent to a domed Rolex 116) - which costs £4.95.

Haha, yes the price is quite an issue.

Is there a similar Sternkreuz domed one you reckon? Picked a 'service dome' from them for my 5513 build but it differs from the T38.

Also picked up a couple of XS302.450 Ø302mm from Cousins to shave the loupe, trying to be inventive like cjt202020, but they're going back for an exchange due to manufacturing defects (tiny lines within the plastic structure). Also, a thing worth mentioning is that the loupe location is a bit to the left on these ones.

I'm afraid I don't know whether there's an equivalent - it took a lot of Googling and detective work to find the right cyclops plexi, so I can only suggest doing the same... searching other forum plexi threads to weed out the answer!

whose hands did you end up using? WSO?

Yuki but gmt hand didn’t fit this movement, needed to be 1.8mm apparently, luckily the watch maker had one lying about albeit slightly damaged.

The other thing with this movement was the stem height, but again the watch maker made a spacer. All part of the story on my covid 1675.

So the 2893 came with h5 height and that was too tall so you needed a dial spacer to get the pinions short enough to not hit the glass? That seems like a good thing because then you could fit a DWO in there too correct. I think you’ve got a great watch there. Did you choose to not get a cyclops crystal because you have a eta date window position and didn’t mount a DWO?

Yes, thanks and just had the cyclops sanded off rather than have it slightly misaligned.

I’ve learnt lots thanks to this great thread and now onto the next one. 5513 perhaps or another 1675 with all the left over parts!

Hello guys,

Thanks to this amazing thread that kept me busy during the confinement, I've decided to build myself a 1675 with one of Milky's case.
Parts are starting to arrived one by one and with them the trouble of building the watch.

I've ordered a tube at Esslinger ref 24-5300 which seems to be period correct, didn't order the kit crown + tube from yuki at $12 because of the Covid the shipping is $48 and minimum order is $100 which was way to expencive for only the tube & crown.
So as I haven't found anywhere a rep crown 5.3mm I've decided to buy a gen used one ref: 24-503-0

Tube fit like a charm on Milky's case but impossible to have the crown fit... after investigation I've found that the crown's part that goes into the tube is too large, 1.7mm, to fit in the tube hole that's 1.5mm...

Where was I wrong?
Didn't I choose the correct tube or crown?
Any suggestion to fix my problem?

Thank you for your help

If your tube looks like it is thick enough to remove ~0,3mm of material from the inside of it, a round diamond file would do that pretty easily. I bought some a while back for watch related tasks and have found them to be quite useful.
