My brother in law keeps laughing at me, because I tend to protect all my watches even from the slightest rain. He especially does that when I'm wearing a diver's watch.

Hahaha, I thought so JayBee0815 , I just can't help myself. It also takes a lot of willpower for me when I have exceptionally nice new swimshorts, to make them wet for the first time :D

But this is one of the great things about Reps. I would not go swimming with a 10k+ Gen ;-)
But when I jump into the lake with my ZZF Sub (my swimming watch), I dont think about the unprobale worst case. That makes life so much easier ;-)

Yes! So true. I mean I still treasure my nice reps, but if something happens to them it's not the end of the world!

Yep, I wore my VSF Rolex Yachtmaster 42 boogie boarding a couple of weekends ago. I really got thrashed around in the waves, I could never wear a $30k white gold rolex in those conditions.

I was just on the phone with Rolie, a watchsmith from the UK that I kept hearing alongside Ado213 were go to guys.

I spoke to him about the pressure testing. He said that the biggest risk to failing a test is water getting in but as the pressure test machine that I’m going to is a ‘dry test’, that I should be less worried about testing to 10ATM.

Having said that, he did say there is a risk the crystal could break but this is always fixable.

Considering I’m going away for my birthday at the end of August, and don’t want my birthday images immortalised by a Pam968 on my wrist with a huge split on the glass, I’ll test to 5ATM when it arrives on Friday, then push it to 10ATM when I get back from holiday.

Im happy to be the experiment guys…kind of!!!

Paneristi,

I just got back from the watch place with my Pam968 and have my results…drumroll please…

3bar (30m) - PASSED
5bar (50m) - PASSED!!!
10bar (50m) - Backed out like a coward. Will conduct when back from holiday!

There was a different guy at the shop today and he thought it wasn’t an issue to push it to 10ATM but did say what KOT1917 had suspected, that if it were to fail, the clear case back could be the culprit because it’s thinner than the front glass.

Never-the-less, I think we can all agree 5ATM for a rep watch is pretty impressive and I will definitely test at 10ATM later in the month!

Great! Btw. - In the meantime I tested most of my Reps with my chinese Tester and all the Pams have mastered the 5 ATM without a problem; even a cheaper Radiomir, what was very suprising for me.
Fun Fact: The two Reps, that have failed the test, where the highly praised Noob v3 Daytona and a Noob Yachtmaster, but the later was not so clear for me, because I stopped the test, when some bubbles came from the bezel. Could be, that there was much air beneath the bezel. But before I kill the watch, I better stopped ;-)

That’s great! The same thing happened with my PAM005. Failed at 30m - bubbles everywhere.

Great for the Pams. As they're based on a simple and efficient design they should take these pressures easily. The fact that their replicas do too is the demonstration of that, that's how I understand it. Cool.

Regarding the Daytona, well I always heard decent watchsmiths saying never take water resistance of chronos for granted in anyway, even with gens, as there is too many ways for the water to push in. Splashing for dish washing maybe ok, but no swimming nor diving.

Ruppert you should enjoy the 968 for a bit, then crush it at 10ATM once you're tired of it LOL.
