This thread inspired me towards a new build. So I went looking on eBay. There was a sealed 3175-284, so I bought it and am expecting it to arrive tomorrow or Wednesday. There was also a listing for two new-without-tags 3175-670 (now only one). I guess I am taking a chance with it—I have my suspicions that it’s for a 3185/3186—but the seller accepts returns. If it works, maybe I’ll buy the other one if no one beats me to it. There’s several 3175-280s out there but less 3175-260s. Will a 260 from either the 3185 or 3186 work? And what’s up with the old version versus new version of the 3185/3186 260 minute wheel? Will both work on a 3175?

The one from 3175/86 will not work unfortunately. Neither will a 3155 version.

Trust me…

That makes sense. It would seem that these four parts—284, 670, 260, and 280—must all be specific to a 3175 and nothing else given how it’s constructed versus the 3135, 3155, and 3185/6, as well as its specific functionality.

Glad I asked before buying a “common” 260.

The 670 is the toughest part to find. I went through multiple of them trying to find the proper one.

The rest were relatively easy to get aside from getting the 284 from overseas as well.

You don’t happen to know the height measurement on the 670? Which I guess should be the same height at the 3135 intermediate date wheel. Figured it’d be easier to quickly check the height to see if it’s correct when it arrives instead of having to take apart the 3135 to check.

I don’t unfortunately and I don’t want to take my movement apart lol

It’s slightly thicker than the 3155 670 and thinner than the 3185/86. The 3185/86 version has 3 sprockets on it (to accommodate the jumping hour), the 3175-670 is just 2 sprockets

I was surprised at how tiny the 3175 670 is, though.

Based on ross29’s post about the 670 with pic, his 670 looks like it has three sprockets. Is that correct?

That is the 3185/86 version. It will chew up your main wheels and not fit properly under the main plate

This is the correct one. Found the photo that the seller sent to me before shipping.

Good luck on the hunt. It took me months to find the right one unfortunately. It’s a very obscure part to a limited run movement.

I learned the hard way the differences between the 3135-670, 3155-670, 3186-670 and the proper 3175-670

Thank you. Very rare parts indeed. There’s a guy in Italy who has two, but he won’t ship to the US. I wish 3D printing could take care of this.
