Looks great! It's not a look I have fancied trying but I do keep an eye on GEN Service T39s, which seem to go around a similar price, if not a bit less than the TD39. The TD pricing always surprises me a bit. I know they are 'the best' REP of the original profiles but I bought a GEN blistered service T19 (ok, so a different profile) for ~$100 and a used GEN T19 for ~$100, which do seem much better 'value'. It's why a Sternkreuz for ~$20 seems exceptional, really and Clark's for even less.
I have tried both a T19 and a T39 from Clarks and both were grossly oversized. I mean so large that the insert would have had to been sanded on the inside to be able to fit/rotate. I was not going to sand a CAC insert so I bought another crystal.

I have yet to get a score like that!
You just need to keep an eye out as they're not that popular among the restorers. There were also some NOS GEN lumi service hands on VRF recently for $250 from memory. GEN Service parts can be cheap for vintage.

Fiery Gems have a GEN, blistered Service T39 available but they often start them at a dollar and they end a bit cheaper, if you wait and snipe: https://www.ebay.com/itm/296626042652

Shhhh! If everyone learns to “snipe” then it’s all gone to hell… 😂

I am finally done with the 94110 superfranken.

I reshaped the crownguards internally and externally. I also softened the entire case.

The best part of this project was collecting parts and building it. Owning and wearing it are comparatively boring, haha.

This is what it looks like when paired with a cartel 93150 bracelet + replica 501b end links:

Compared with my gen bb58 blue:

Absolutely stunning! Great job Pom! Maybe worth getting some 380b end links, even if REP. GEN 501b on mine are a rubbish fit and sit flat, though yours do look much better. For me, GEN 380b, so much better. Not sure if 580 would be 'better' as well but if yours sit tight, nothing needed 🍻

The Tudor 2784 movement arrived:

I also did some case work. Firstly, the stock crown/ tube are removed.

Then the case is re-tapped so that it fits gen-spec 7030 triplock tube.

The gen crown and gen-spec 7030 triplock tube are temporarily installed to see if I need to countersink the case. It appears that I don't need to countersink the case.

The next step is to reshape the insides of the crownguards.

I use a dummy athaya crown/tube to check if the opening is wide enough, as I reshape.

I am satisfied with the results.

However, there are still burrs left from reshaping. I use a diamond file to remove the burrs.

Then I use a dremel with green polishing compound to polish the insides of the crownguards.

The insides of the crownguard is now reshaped and polished.

there seems to be some debate about whether the 7030 case tube is M3x0,3 threads or M3x0,35. Which one did you use? Thanks

Hi pompompurin. When retapping the case for the 7030 tube.
1 did you use m3x.30 tap
2 do you just use cutting oil and the tap. Or did you need to do anything else?
3. did you need to use loctit?
4. is it stilll water tight?
sorry for the rapid fire questions. 😬

1. M3 x 0.35
2. No cutting oil was used in this case. The vietnam case appears to have alteady been tapped for m3 x 0.35mm. I was mainly clearing any glue/ residue stuck on the threads, using the tap
3. Yes, I use loctite for all tubes installation
4. So far so good. No issues for washing hands and rain.

Crap, I just seen you used m3x.35 my bad. sorry
Lol no problem.

I read that some members here indicated that rolex uses the elusive m3 x 0.30 tap for their 7030 tubes. However, i cannot find this tap locally so I settle for the m3 x 0.35 tap.

We need some new owner pics to keep this thread bumped! Such a good resource for 9401/7021/9411 builders!

Mine will be getting a DrV case swap, Tudor 7030/703 and perhaps be going blue, with my black service parts going in one of my GENs.

Black dial/ bezel is a very classic and timeless look.

If I could have a ghosted bezel insert like yours, it would be perfect. But i don't want to ghost a gen bezel insert, so i will leave it as it is for now.

Thanks. I already tried a super thin dial spacer that I previously modified by sanding/polishing/softening the sides/reducing the internal and external diameters, but it was still quite tight.
Without the bezel washer, the current tightness is ok. The bezel can remain still even if i nudge the bezel.

I will leave the bezel for now. I am going to focus on reshaping the crownguards next!

No problem! I am happy to see you that enjoyed it.

The gen-spec tube that is used for 703/ 704 crowns is 7030 tube. The 7030 tubes have triplock feature, which basically means having additional gaskets on and inside the tube:

What-is-The-Difference-in-Twinlock-vs-Triplock-2.jpg

You can use genuine 7030 tubes or aftermarket 7030 tubes for gen-spec 703/ 704 crown. You can find them on ebay by searching "7030 tube". Also, 7030 tube only works for 703/ 704 crowns. If you are using replica crowns, then it might not work with these tubes.

Depending on the case and production batch/ tolerance, you might need to countersink/ counterbore the tube hole of your case in order to install a 7030 tube.

The clark bezel fits my gen service insert.
The stock bivintage bezel does not fit my gen service insert.

The clark crystal retainer needed modifying using a dremel to fit my crystal.

But as always, the production batch/ tolerance can change, and different parts can have varying tolerance/ specs, Your mileage may vary.

From my experience, all bivintage tudor submariner cases need to be re-tapped in order to install other tubes. I use a M3 x 0.35 tap

Yes, i use a file to reshape the insides of the crownguard
Hey bro...
U r correct, my cases needed to be countersunk to fit a gen crown tube.
The case already had a slight counter sink that would fit an o-ring that the original tube that came with the case had, however the sink is too small for a gen.
Can u give me so.e tips as to how I can make the hole large enough to fit the gen one in.. the gen tube has the base that's similar to the gasket size just slightly bigger so it won't screw all the way.
Used the taps as u recommended and it has worked a charm.

Use pillar drill.

If the tube is sticking out very slightly, then you could probably get away with shaving some (emphasis on 'shaving' and 'some') metal off using a drilling bit. Use caliper to determine which drill bit to use that is slightly bigger than the diameter of the part of the tube that needs to sunken slightly more into the tube hole.

Proceed carefully with trial and error. Alternatively, give it to a modder to build it for you
