one of the reasons y i joined in 2009 and i only have so few post is because im afraid i will get scolded for asking stupid qns....

sometimes its not easy to find the information you need from the thousands of posts here...

Yup, and that is when you ask questions. It's when the answer is not at all hard to find that folk get antsy. There are no stupid questions but it does get annoying after the same one has been asked a dozen times before or is simply a case of asking people to do your homework for you.

A good way is to ask "Hey, where can find out more about xxxxx?" or "Can someone point me at the answer to this?" As I said, chances are there is a nice detailed answer somewhere that will provide a better response than a quick answer in a question thread.

Another important hint is to use Google instead of the built in search which has it's limitations. Simply go to Advanced Search http://www.google.com.au/advanced_search and have Google return results from this domain only. The Google 'bot spends 5 or 6 hours a day here indexing everything.
