Thanks Polonius

Got mine from SEAD. I have owned many Gen and Rep watches and this is my new Favorite. One of the best Rep.s......

Hey gang!

Here are pics of my Gen PAM89. PolonusTM posted some pics I shot with my iPhone, and I had the watch on today when I was on-camera, so I threw it out there to snap a few better ones.

The strap is a custom Elephant Hyde that House of Fleming in Atlanta made for me.

Keep in mind this has been a nearly daily-wear watch for me over the last few years. So it's a little on the dirty side.

My hope is to buy the Rep G-Series when it's available and do some side-by-side shots.

Enjoy!

So I guess I didn't screw the back on tight enough the other night. I've got a funky fog going on here! I'll pull it over night and make sure I grease it before I put her back together this time. Glad I didn't get it wet!

Hi all,

Is it necessary to get QC pics of this model series in order to make sure that the LSML is aligned across the bottom properly? In some photos I have seen the "swiss made" looks almost cut-off at the bottom.

Photo attached is not my own

Well I thought I would revive this thread. I just purchased the pam 89E from a fellow member this past weekend and I should have it by Wednesday. Before doing a lot of research on this watch and comparing it to gen, the only part that really bugged me was the inner edges of the crown guard. The fact that it is not nicely squared off like the gen bothered me. After doing some research looking at various gen versions of this watch, I noticed that there is great variability in the shape of the inner edges of the crown guard.
Here is one example of a gen with rounded inner corners

and another gen

and another gen with only slightly rounded corners

In end I still like sharp corners so I've decided to file away and sharpen the corners on the rep CG. I'll post pics of the result by Friday. Wish me luck!

If/When the G-Series is released, I'm going to buy one and can compare it to my Gen. Hell...I may even sell the Gen if it's that good.

Has anyone here been able to compare the rep dial and hands directly with the gen? Is it indistinguishable from the gen without macro?

What's stopping me from wanting this watch is the price, other than that the dial is gorgeous

The inner corners are not the issue with this Rep CG - it is the side profile of the CG as you look at the side elevation of the case.

This is an E series, but the rep has a more modern CG shape installed. You need to install an A-F series CG.

Should be thin and relatively flat above the lever not curved (fat to thin shape) like the rep.........

I believe this is all discussed and well illustrated earlier in this excellent thread, in the end I went for the 088 o series GMT.

BUT, I am sure I will have one of these sooner or later, as it is a real beauty.

Congratulations on a great pick - someone beat me in a flash to the Polonus sale! :spank:
