The reason why I wanted to pay someone to fix this for me is the prohibitive cost of the dremel vs paying someone like 10 dollars
I personally would leave it as is, seen quite a few people "over" fix, and more then a couple gens with crowns VERY close to the case.
I must agree to be honest ...
Especially when I saw this gen 005M for sale @ risti, crown seems pretty close as well ...

I am going to try this with a new T-48 crown after over dremeling and ruining my first crown. Can I ask what was the vice in the picture that you are using to hold your crown?
