Panerai PAM318/005k from hublot factory crown problem

As you all know, the latest 005k/318 from the Hublot factory are of very good quality - comparable to the gen even. The most blatant flaw that they have, unfortunately, is the crown being too close to the case when it is supposed to be a few mm away to reveal the hexagonal stem.

I know there are tutorials and all guiding you to fix this. However, even the "dummy guide" is far too technical for me to comprehend, pardon my ignorance.

For the interest of other Pam owners who are as clueless as me with the technicals of the watch, would any kind soul give an idiot-proof tutorial in this thread?

Thanks :jerry:

Thanks! I'll watch this thread closely :watching:

Out of curiosity though, why the long wait? I got mine in barely 2 weeks

Probably due to QC issues?

I am looking to the mod tutorial too as I may want to buy a dremel tool just for this mod

use the pink bit on the far left on a dremel and drill away, refit CG to test the crown distance

:lolcina::lolcina::MousePanic::beatahorse::beatahorse::beatahorse::lolcina::beatahorse:audace: I hope this does not come across as mean. It is not intended to be. It is just that this is such a tired topic. This whole "crown too close to the case" business is so over-blown and over discussed it is boardering on the ridiculous. There have been about 1,000,000 posts on the H-factory crown spacing issues. Using the search feature will give you your answers.

In the real world, this mod is not worth the time/risk. NO ONE, unless they are a member of a rep forum, will ever know the difference. Of course, if it really matters to you, then go for it. Just know there is a good possibility you will jack up your watch.

Can we please, please, please- with loads of sugar on top- put an end to posts about this issue?

Again, audace, this is not really directed at you, it is directed at the cumulative effect of the posts on this topic over the last 3 months. And yes, a fair response to my post is that I should simply not read these posts.

You're right. No one will know. Its just for us nit pickers.

I mean think back 2 years ago when DSN was "god" of pams.

This is a chore for any modder. YES it can be done by anyone, but I would hate to see someone F up their new Pam for this mod...

I understand that there are many tutorials out there. Problem is that I have COMPLETELY no understanding of them at all. Yeah, I like to nitpick. However, it's not so much as to convince others that it's a gen, as a rep will always be a rep no matter how gen-like it is. It's just that there's a nagging feeling to make it better, that's all. (I would also like to give modding a go, it seems interesting)

I think you misunderstand me. I have been searching on guides and tutorials out there with the crown issue. However, even the simplest tutorial is far too technical for me to understand, hence me searching for an 'idiot-proof' tutorial which can benefit not only me but others like me elsewhere.

Cheers

what's a gasket? I assume the lever is the thing you pull to get the crown out a notch to change the time right?

So based on your photos, all thats needed is to make the dish shallower using a dremel? how do you make sure you do this evenly?

Used low speed and go slow , in circular motion with dremel as close to the lip. The rest manually used the same tip go in circle.

I thought that You could NOT shave the level-arm when it have a roller at the top?

How would that be possible?
