I used KontaktChemie technical spray # 99 called "Screen" worked with a micro-fiber clothe. It is gentler than alcohol. What is the use of having AR if the dial itself is a mirror of sheen?

I have just ordered some tools to assist getting inside and removing and holding the movement, will I need to pull hands to do this or could I get away with doing one side moving the hands and doing the other ?

I was thinking of trying with camera lens cleaning fluid and cloth ?

Any luck with those picture !

Here's my gen 176... You can see an almost grey metallic look with some texture here. Hard to create this look with my 111.

Many thanks for the picture, I will see how I get on with lens cleaner, but a little nervous about creating an unven homemade look

Also a little 'pin cushioning around the dial cut outs, which is not there on the reps

I assume you're talking about the roundness on the edges there and I definitely see it in the pictures but honestly don't in person. Not sure why that is, but I love the look...

Yes, I didn't notice this effect on the 176 I looked at in store, only in the pictures after. I did notice that the markings were easier to read than the rep at an angle

I pulled the hands.
Kontakt Screen is a quick-drying screen cleaning foam or mousse. If you are in Germany, you can buy it at any Conrad.
(I never tried with a camera lens cleaning fluid.)
I remember when I treated the 217 dial in this way, alot of finely granulated particles (dirt/soot) came off. I had to work the dial for a while to achieve an even matte finish.
I am sorry but I have no photos of this project.
