What’s everyone’s opinion on the best Replica of Panerai in 2019.


My vote goes to the Pam799.

The brushed Titanium Case with the Carbon Fibre Carbotech Bezel. Dial that is Black Texturized With light Blue Lume Dot markers. The lume on this is one of the best I have ever had lasting for hours. The movement functions are perfect. Just a beautiful watch.

My vote is for 979.
I suspect that this is one of the most anticipated, beautiful, close to gen, and popular repetitions. Despite the fact that I personally prefer 961, and the color of the markers is closer to gen, I think there were fewer people who wanted it, due to the previous release of 979 with a carbon dial.

979 isn't as close to gen as some of the others though, closest to gen out of all the releases would be probably the 1616 & 984/5

here's a list of issues with this years releases......

979 - wrong colour lume, dial printing and texture slightly off
1616 - pretty much perfect
799 - crown guard is wrong
984/985 - pretty damn near perfect if you get one with aligned crystal
683, 959, 960 - lovely watches, however wrong movement, possibly too thick but no one done a side by side measurement yet.
961, same issues with dial and print as 979, don't know about marker/strap colour as not had one.

Yes, I understand that 979 has problems, but as you rightly noted, almost everyone has problems in one way or another. I speak not so much for accuracy, but for a complex of factors. 1616 is really closer, but I don’t see that uniqueness as compared to the already existing 616.
What will you cast your vote for?

1616 as its the only one thats close enough to be a super rep - even though I sold mine for its smaller sibling. I disagree about the uniqueness however with its all blue lume markers, its pretty unique. more so than the 979...... Quality of the Dial made me sell my 979 and not bother with the 961. and the printing quality is way off the gen.

On the 799 you really have to know what to look at on the CG to see the small difference. Has anyone tried to modify it to look closer to gen. The case, bezel, dial, and movement functions are near perfect from what I see.

everything else apart from crown guard is perfect. I don’t think you would be able to mod the crown guard to match but you have to know the flaw to see it

The 1616 has the lume issue. The lume is off. I think what is blue is supposed to be green and vice versa. Also the opposite hands are odd colored.

Man, I loved this watch. Whatever the ultimate opinion is, I think it's been an absolutely cracking year for Pam reps - a resurgent year - thanks mostly to VSF.

The crown guard is completely the wrong shape on the inner side. you would need to add material to get the correct shape, no idea why this one is different to the rest of the sub line?

Yes, by the way, I completely forgot about it. This is a much more obvious flaw than the thickness of fonts in different batches, or the color rendering of markers. So on all vsf 1616?
